||| Olfactora - House of Natural Perfumery ||| Delphine and I are old colleagues so I have watched her build Olfactora from the ground up, and what a pleasure it’s been. She is a formidable force who is passionate about what she does. I was lucky enough to experience her perfumery workshop and absolutely loved it. Her knowledge is phenomenal and her enthusiasm palpable. The brief was to capture the experience in her new studio from start to finish for her website and socials. It’s been a while since I captured these for Delphine and she’s already achieved so much in her studio, including beautiful new perfume bottles and an ever-evolving range of materials to work with.

When Delphine first came to us, she had a clear vision for what @olfactora could become. A studio that invites you to slow down the moment you step inside. Calm, understated and deeply connected to nature. A place designed to encourage people to pause, immerse themselves in the experience, and leave feeling inspired. Every detail was carefully considered to support that feeling. The richness of natural materials, softened by subtle textures and thoughtful detailing, creates a studio that feels warm, grounded and beautifully resolved. Seeing that vision realised and experiencing the finished space exactly as it was intended is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Asia Perfume Foundation (APF) is a non-governmental organization aims to promote the perfumery of Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and provide certified education in perfumes. Education partners span across Asia, ASEAN, Oceania and beyond. The Asia Perfume Foundation’s Asia Perfume Awards 2026 Ceremony will take place in November 2026 at the Cosmoprof Asia, Hong Kong. The Asia Perfume Foundation, established 2015, founded the Asia Perfume Awards that brought together perfumer brands, collectors, artisans and perfumers from around Asia-Pacific to celebrate the excellence of Asia’s perfumes in the quietly booming fragrance epicenter of Asia. The APAC market in the industry of perfumery is booming, yet representation and celebration of Asia-Pacific brands on the world stage remains low by comparison. The best brand experiences don’t just tell you a story. They invite you to become part of it. This weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing Delphine’s bespoke fragrance workshop at @olfactora, and it was a masterclass in experiential branding. For three hours, I wasn’t simply learning how to make a perfume. I was immersed in the brand’s philosophy, discovering the craftsmanship behind natural perfumery and creating something that felt deeply personal. Every scent, every conversation and every detail was intentional. As someone who designs brand experiences for a living, it’s always inspiring to step into one that leaves a lasting impression. The product is beautiful, but it’s the story, education and emotional connection that make it unforgettable. Experiences like this are a reminder that people rarely remember what they bought. They remember how a brand made them feel. Thank you, Delphine, for inviting me into your beautiful studio and sharing your craft. It was a privilege to experience it firsthand.

Navy Strength scents 😉🥃🔥 Since childhood, I have always been a bit of a collector. One of my little collections is a display of vintage decanters that sit proudly on my bookshelf. Most are imperfect (which I love) and for whatever reason, I find their stoppers so incredibly beautiful. So, that in mind here are some ‘boozy’ numbers that I cannot get enough of: Manhattan Cherry 🍒 You’re in a dimlit bar. It’s cold outside. There’s a piano playing in the background. This isn’t a classic cherry scent. It’s laid back, warm, a subtle leather note ties everything together - how this balance is perfected in this scent is a talent! Ivan Alemany is the nose behind Flaner’s fragrances (I’d also recommend Oudh Nūr which also adds a fun little kick if layered under Manhattan Cherry). Speakeasy 🚬 You’re in the same bar, sipping an almanac. You’ve decided to take up cigar smoking (just occasional). And that’s the cheekiest hint that you will smell in this fragrance. This one is sultry. Badlands 🧡 This is a botanical twist on boozy fragrance. I am so impressed by this house and the way they are showcasing the Australian landscape through their collection (I mean a Tasmanian Whiskey accord- stunning! And if you’ve not tried a Tassie whiskey, then go ahead and add that to your do list as well). Suffice to say, Badlands has been a very, very easy reach for me. 🔥Hot tip: layering it with Speakeasy opens up both scents in a remarkable way. Midnight Layover ✈️ I imagine this is what you wear in an airport lounge, late at night, again, while sipping on a cheeky almanac or a brandy- a spectacular scent. Amaretto ♥️ Delphine McPhilimey (@olfactora) is the clever nose behind this delicious scent. It is a very titular scent- there’s a heady spice about it that settles into a smooth cherry and woody drydown. For my shnoz, it is easily the best scent from Evaliah so far. Lost Angels 🥃 This is a stunning take on Angels Share- it captures the original while inserting its own twist. This is an affordable and well wearing alternative if you’re looking.

The Asia Perfume Foundation (APF) is the leading international certifying body for perfume qualifications. Trusted by the world’s most recognised perfume organisations and with graduates in various roles throughout the global perfume industry, APF has led the design and delivery of perfume education across Asia-Pacific since 2015. With three progressive levels of study offered through a network of course providers spanning over Asia and the Pacific, APF qualifications inspire and empower perfume professionals and enthusiasts. The APF works with an extensive network of approved education centers over Asia-Pacific and education partners in Europe. Most are open to the public. Student can acquire professional perfumery knowledge from the designated centre and qualified educator in each city, and also explore the local scented plants (i.e. Ylang-ylang in Manila, Lotus in Vietnam, Patchouli in Indonesia, Hinoki in Japan, Tea leaves in Taiwan, Magnolia in Hong Kong, Sandalwood in Australia). Infusing traveling fun into perfumery studies, student can enroll APF level 1 in Japan or Taiwan to learn perfumery materials and blending techniques, pursue the advanced APF level 2 in Australia or Philippines to learn comprehensive fragrance families and practicing compounding all of them, and why not finish the APF level 3 by using the aroma isolates as a professional perfumer in Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong!
