What a way to end an incredible summer at Emma Cons Gardens. ❤️

We certainly finished with a bang – from the incredible London School of Samba and DT Dance ballet dancers to Queera Lynn, our Sunrise Rave and DJ David Robson bringing the feel-good tunes.

But more than the performances, what’s made this summer so special has been the people. Seeing strangers dance together, stop for a chat, try something new, laugh, create and simply enjoy sharing a space has been a wonderful reminder of just how important community is.

In an increasingly AI-dominated world, there are some things technology will never replace: real human connection, shared experiences and the joy of bringing people together. We need more of it.

Thank you to every single person who joined us this summer and helped bring Emma Cons Gardens to life. What a special few months it’s been. ❤️

We’re looking for volunteers to help us make a difference at Emma Cons Gardens, whether that’s:

🤝 Giving your time to help bring the community together

A huge thank you to the talented @morley_college Tutors Jazz Quartet for treating Waterloo commuters, residents and visitors to a fantastic evening of live music in Emma Cons Gardens.

Founded by Emma Cons herself, it felt especially fitting to welcome Morley College back to the Gardens and celebrate her incredible legacy through music.

Another brilliant evening of our Reimagining Emma Cons Gardens summer series. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, stayed awhile and soaked up the atmosphere.

See you next Thursday for our Youth day, another free community event in the heart of Waterloo! 🌿

🌈 What a wonderful evening celebrating Pride in Waterloo. 💚

With the sun shining over Emma Cons Gardens, it was a joy to see people dancing, laughing, chatting and coming together after work to celebrate community.

A huge thank you to the brilliant DJ David Robson for the feel-good soundtrack, the fabulous @queera_lynn for keeping us entertained with incredible vocals, humour and plenty of laughs, and the amazing @londonschoolofsamba , who brought infectious energy and had the crowd dancing along.

Add in delicious Pride brownies from @konditorcakes, drinks from the @oldvictheatre Prosecco Bar, and a garden full of smiling faces, and it really was an evening to remember.

This is what community is all about. Real conversations, shared experiences, spontaneous dancing and genuine human connection – something no technology could ever replace. ✨

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special. We’ll see you next Thursday for another fantastic evening at Emma Cons Gardens! 🌿

WE ❤️ OUR MEMBERS!

The Advocacy Academy Members are organised and ready to #BuyBackBrixton.

Since our buzzing room of 50 young people for our emergency meeting on Tuesday, we have:
- Ran 6hrs of stalls on Brixton Station Road moving 300 people from disbelief to action for Buy Back Brixton.
- Spoken to every business in and around Brixton Market to get them to show public support for Buy Back Brixton.
- Interviewed with 6 publications emphasising the importance of Brixton Market for young people and future generations!
- Flooded social media with videos, posters and calls to action!
- Stewarded the Buy Back Brixton community event bringing all of the joy and hope 🥰.

There’s a fire in our belly - watch this space because we’re just getting started!

#BUYBACKBRIXTON ! Over 4 days, we have secured almost 30,000 signatures and over £2.2 million!
Almost a THOUSAND of you showing up to save our Brixton & our markets!

It’s important that the rest of the UK SEES community coming out for community! Let’s keep the momentum going, our work is not done just yet! Make your videos, your carousels, your story posts about the joy & action of last night because it is now part of history.

We have until Monday to collect more signatures and donations so continue to share with family, friends, anyone and everyone!

What a way to kick off the summer! 🌞

Our Sustains Us Garden Party officially launched the Reimagining Emma Cons Gardens summer series on Thursday, and what an incredible afternoon and evening it was.

Some of our favourite moments included:
🌱 A wonderful gardening workshop with @bostse1 , St John’s and pupils from @oasisacademysouthbankprimary
🌳 A guided tree walk exploring Waterloo’s hidden greenery
🚲 An inspiring accessible cycle ride with Wheels for Wellbeing
🎶 Fantastic performances from Coin Street Community Choir and Morley Tutors Jazz Band
🍸 Cocktails from The Old Vic Bar
🍰 Delicious treats from @konditorcakes and @edencaterers
☀️ And, of course, plenty of sunshine!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped bring Emma Cons Gardens to life.

The best part? We’re only just getting started. 💚

Join us every Thursday until mid-September for a packed programme of free events celebrating music, creativity, wellbeing and community right here in the heart of Waterloo.
