✨ Happy #TurtleTuesday! 🌊🐢

Did you know that each sea turtle has its own unique "fingerprint"? The patterns on their faces and flippers help scientists identify individual turtles and distinguish between species🔍👀

That's nature's unique way of keeping track of these amazing creatures! 🐢💚

#Territorial Clash: Two Hawksbill Turtles Battle for Dominance 🐢💥.

Two hawksbill turtles in a fierce territorial dispute! These incredible creatures are usually solitary, but when their paths cross over feeding grounds or territory, they can get quite competitive. It’s a powerful reminder of the natural instincts that drive all creatures, even in the peaceful depths of the ocean.

Environmental awareness in the Maldives 🐢

Enthusiastic high school students from San Carlo Institute, Milan, Italy and from Dhangethi island, participated in a online tour of our Marine Turtle Rescue Centre run by the @oliveridleyproject

During the session they were introduced to the (hard) work of sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation in the Maldives and they got to know all the patients currently under the ORP team care.

Thank you @getwetmaldives for connecting us all by promoting awareness on marine conservation and Maldivian culture through conscious tourism 🏝
We are delighted to share our knowledge and efforts !

One of the biggest problems facing marine life in Maldives is ghost nets.

These agglomerate of nets arrive from other countries such as India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan only to end up in the Maldives.

Whilst recently on assignment for @jamanafaru_maldives, we found this juvenile green turtle trapped in a net… Luckily it had all flippers intact and after a thorough check by @lauren_arthur7, who is a qualified marine biologist and has rescued many a turtle in her career, was released back into the ocean.

To find out more, check out @oliveridleyproject for their great work in protecting sea turtles and their habitats.

And don’t forget to watch the full video on our YouTube channel! (Link in bio).
