Friday mornings often begin with a text to my friend and fellow creative:

“Are we hunting for treasures today?”

A garage sale just outside of town had piqued our interest, and I expected to come home with a few curated vintage pieces for my personal collection.

Instead, we left with full hearts and the kind of peace only a horse hug can bring.

Our little Friday adventure led us to an original 1897 Sears, Roebuck house and a pasture where two beautiful mama mares were roaming with their two-week-old babies. When we were invited through the gate to meet them, my answer was an immediate and unequivocal, “Yes, please!”

I love when people invite you into the things that light them up. When a stranger shares their passion, tells you the stories and gives you a glimpse into a world you may never have experienced otherwise.

I will almost always say yes to that kind of invitation.

Yes to hearing the history of an old house.
Yes to an adventure we never could have planned.
Yes to opening the gate.
And absolutely yes to petting the horse.

Today’s door wasn’t the front door to a house. It was a pasture gate leading to two mares, their beautiful babies and a moment my heart needed more than I realized.

I think God knew.

I thought we were going in search of vintage treasures. Instead, a horse whispered right into my heart.

I’m really proud of this little ode to Minnesota summer, heading “Up North,” and taking time to slow down and enjoy nature. It’s nostalgic & full of pieces ready to make new memories with!

This is my sappy belated Birthday post (I am gonna use the excuse of YTH camp happening this week) to the woman who means absolutely EVERYTHING to me!

Olivia, I love you and I am so grateful for you and this life we get to share together! You are the most creative woman I know. I have loved seeing you step out through all your creative/entrepreneur endeavors this past year and I am excited to see all that is to come with these opportunities! I love your eye for style/creativity!

I love how you love our kids, you are the best mom I know and I could not think of a better woman to be the mother of my children. I also can’t think of anyone else to go through the highs and lows of parenting with, I think w remake a great team!

Thanks for being my best friend, I love you and happy birthday! Praying this year is one of the best yet! 🙌🏻🔥❤️💪🏻

My First Moorhead Farmers Market was inside for a different vibe on this HOT day and it was fun to experiment and test out this live upcycling idea! I’m definitely going to have some more premade items next time like bags and scrunchies.

The flower Blanket patch sweatshirts are available now for a semi custom order in my private Facebook group!

From the goodwill bins to new beginnings! This top is actually available in my private group right now 👀 I’m an XXL and I love her, but I feel like she’d fit better on someone with wider shoulders or a fuller bust!

Rescuing vintage linens with hand embroidered details from the landfill is now my whole personality.😂😍

If you love anything thrifted, upcycled, and vintage, then you need to join the fb group!

The Cozy Fable is evolving to merge my love of thrifted finds and upcycled in one place with a more interactive and community minded twist! I’m super excited about the direction this is taking and the opportunities for customization and behind the scenes look at what I’m finding and making!

And as always, free local pickup in Moorhead, MN!

Happy Easter from the Alneses, we had a fun weekend full of time with Nana, candy, and an epic egg hunt in the snowstorm we had yesterday! We are grateful for the hope we have in Jesus and are wishing you all a happy Easter as well!

Enraged, heartbroken, ashamed, devastated 💔

We feel it too, it’s so heavy. You’re not alone.
