BIG news for worker-owned businesses in Santa Clara County! 🙌🏽 The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved my proposal, co-sponsored by Supervisor Susan Ellenberg, to develop a plan to strengthen opportunities for employee-owned businesses and worker cooperatives, including through County contracting and procurement. Worker cooperatives give workers a meaningful stake in the businesses they help build. They can create quality jobs, build worker wealth, strengthen locally owned businesses, and expand economic opportunity for communities that have historically faced barriers to the traditional labor market. And this work is already happening right here in Santa Clara County. Local worker-owned businesses and cooperatives like A Slice of New York, META: Mujeres Empresarias Tomando Acción, Quelites, and others are showing what’s possible when workers have a voice and share in ownership. Our proposal directs County staff to return to the Board in January 2027 with a plan that explores how we can: ✊🏼 Expand opportunities for cooperatives through County contracting and procurement ✊🏼 Connect workers with cooperative education and technical assistance ✊🏼 Increase access to shared spaces like commercial kitchens and training facilities ✊🏼 Explore access to capital and long-term infrastructure for cooperative development This action comes as we also proclaimed October as Employee Ownership Month in Santa Clara County! From childcare and food systems to public health and supportive services, employee ownership can create pathways for people not only to find work, but to build leadership, economic independence, and ownership. I’m proud that Santa Clara County is taking this step to invest in workers, strengthen local businesses, and keep economic opportunity rooted in our communities. 💪🏽 Thank you to @asliceofny for your leadership and for the pizza! The pizza was not purchased using County funds.

8 weeks, about 10 pounds gained, and several PRs broken! Gotta say, this program was a pretty massive success! Huge thanks to Kyra and @ollin.atletico for pushing me to get off my butt, stay consistent, and keep lifting heavy stuff 🏋️‍♂️ It was a ton of fun, and I’d run it back again in a heartbeat! . Also, this is the “after” photo btw. This is the “Before” photo, and I promise this isn’t one of those “before and after” posts where the only difference is that the guy is noticeably more orange and standing further back, though this already kinda is starting to shape up like one… maybe I should’ve matched the lighting 🤷‍♂️ The crew!

Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day! So many of the martial artists out there are incredible athletes and successful business owners, but also powerful women. Kicksite is honored to support these women and the young girls they train. We've had the pleasure of highlighting and representing a few of these female athletes and academy owners over the years. Swipe to take a look at what they say about community and women in martial arts!

Knocked out a double workout, only to eat so much I went nonverbal. Pretty sure I only burned off about 8.5% of the damage I did today. Calling that a win 😎🦃 Thankful for y’all! #thanksgiving #unc

Joined the @ollin.atletico pre-Halloween workout dressed as a suspiciously sp00ky alien. Verdict: Earth’s gravity + full spandex = not ideal for cardio, but we pulled through 👽
