Magpie season is in full swing! While getting swooped twice in a row by a local territorial bird is the classic Australian rite of passage, it’s also a great reminder: don’t stop or panic—hold your line and keep pedaling! And always wear your sunnies!

Has a feathered local ever taken a swipe at you? Let us know in the comments and share this with your friends! 👇#magpieswoopingseason #cycling #magpie #bike

MACDONALD STREET RAT RUN: UP TO 7 MINUTES FASTER; UP TO 5 SETS OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS AVOIDED
Lord Mayor Clover Moore has told residents: “Once the extension of Macdonald Street is open, we do not expect it to become a preferred route for longer trips.”
But the City has published no traffic modelling to support that assumption.
So we asked a transport modelling expert to test it.
They compared alternative routes using Google travel-time data and forecast traffic light delays from the City's 2025 Intersection Study.
The analysis shows that rat running via Macdonald Street could be seven minutes faster than using main roads, and avoid up to five sets of traffic lights.
That would create a strong incentive for navigation apps and drivers to use our local streets as rat runs. Traffic volumes on these streets would then be expected to increase until congestion erodes the initial advantage.
Instead of turning the public space between Park Sydney Village and the future Erskineville Village into a conduit for through traffic, we’re calling for it to become Ashmore Village Square: a place for people, local businesses and community life. All properties would remain accessible by car.
More than 1,200 people have already supported the campaign. Help us reach 1,500. Please sign the petition - link in bio.

This last weekend we were lucky enough to share a weekend of riding and hanging out with an amazing crew of top notch bike shops from all over Australia.

The legends at @scvimports (who bring in Surly, Salsa, Panaracer, MKS and many of our other favourite brands) invited us to Canberra for their (semi) annual get together.

We were treated to a fun (and sun) filled day of pedalling led by local riding royalty @steph_skinner and @rohanhunt, fresh off riding the Silk Road Mountain Race.

Thanks for the generous hospitality SCV - we appreciate the love and support!✌️

Our gift to you, this Intergalactic Surly Day (Sept 21st) comes from The Godfather himself, Huw from Off Course Bike Shop. Words of wisdom as the weather warms here in Australia. 🙏
May your mid-ride Diesels be well balanced and frosty.

Canberra doesn't suck for cycling + eating + drinking! 🫶🔥
Huge thanks to @steph_skinner for taking a bunch of Surly dealers and associated riff-raff on a tour of the sights, sounds and flavours of our nation's capitol on Saturday. 10/10 would go again and we can't wait to get the band back together somewhere next year!
