Most people think success builds champions.

Omar Barak thinks failure does.

After losing one of the biggest matches of his life, not once, but twice to the same opponent and he had every reason to quit.

Instead, he got back to work.

Those losses became fuel.

The result?

Competing on the international stage for Israel, wrestling at the European Championships, and earning the opportunity to compete at the Division I level.

The Torah teaches:

"A righteous person falls seven times and rises again."

The difference isn't whether you fall.

The difference is whether you get back up.

Just concluded what may have been the hottest event of New York Tech Week.

Over 150 young Jews in tech and finance came together for an evening of mitzvahs, meaningful conversations, and Jewish pride.

Hosted at Vine Ventures, with special thanks to @d_x_pov , @mottel , and @ericmreiner for helping make it happen.

Founders, investors, operators, and builders from some of the world’s leading companies gathered around one table to connect, strengthen their Jewish identity, enjoy authentic kosher New York food, and celebrate what unites us.

It was a truly beautiful evening. Looking forward to the next one on the 17th.

A few months ago I drove to Philadelphia to meet David Adelman, owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, right as they were entering the playoffs. I got there early, stepped out near UPenn to grab a juice, and saw someone walking by.

I asked him, “Excuse me sir, are you Jewish?”

He smiled and said yes.

We wrapped Tefillin together right there on the street. His name was @omerbarak10 ,a Jewish D1 wrestler at UPenn who also represented Israel in wrestling.

Today, Omer reached out saying he had started working on Wall Street. At the same time, I was having lunch with my friend @marcodl18 , founder of @rentmigo and a former Muay Thai fighter who now teaches Jews self-defense through @thewarehouse_wellness .

We were eating two blocks from Omer’s office, so we FaceTimed him and told him to come by.

A little later we were all sitting together wrapping Tefillin again, and this time, we gave Omer his own pair so he can start wrapping every single day.

One random conversation outside UPenn turned into a lifelong mitzvah.
