Plastic is never the answer. It most certainly is never a replacement for nature. Those selling the plastic turf, never-ending subscription to waste and pollution are selling a lie. It’s bizarre that this is a controversial concept. Stop the #plastic takeover of our #parks! @sfrecpark @sfgiants @danielluriesf @sfpublichealth @mysfpuc @sfenvironment @chyannechensf @connie_chan_sf @jackiefielder_ @shamannwalton @rafaelmandelmand8 @stephensherrill @alanwongsf @myrnamelgard7 @stephensherrill @bilalmahmood PLEASE let us keep our park #natural and let us keep our #trees !! This park is a grounding force in our #community , please don’t cut us out from it.

🌱 Something special is growing at Candlestick State Recreation Area! 🌼🦋🐝

This August, Big Black Brunch is excited to launch BBB Harvest: “Seeds of the Future”, a FREE four-week garden series where youth, families, and community members of all ages will discover that every plant has a farm-to-table story!

Together we’ll explore:
🌎 The incredible journey of crops from around the world
🐝 Why pollinators are essential to our food system
🌿 How to grow and care for herbs, flowers, and pollinator gardens with the help of your local Lowe’s Garden Center
👩🏾‍🌾🧑🏿‍🌾 The science behind healthy ecosystems
🎨 Hands-on art, nature journaling, and garden projects
🌱 How gardens can nourish our bodies, strengthen our communities economically through entreprenership, and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards

We’ll also celebrate Black Business Month by recognizing that farming is one of human’s oldest professions and one of the first organized economic activities. Long before restaurants, grocery stores, or technology companies existed, people grew food, saved seeds, traded crops, and built communities through regenerative farming.

🪴 This program is designed for beginners and experienced gardeners alike, because no matter your age, there’s always something new growing in the garden.

🖤 A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners @omicpp @lowes @candlestickpointsra for helping make

BBB Harvest possible. Your support is helping connect our community to nature, healthy food, environmental education, and one another.

Together, we’re planting seeds that will grow for generations. 💚🌻

Since July is CA Rec and Park Month, let’s remind them that parks are great because of nature and trees, not plastic and fences. Join us at Oracle Park (Lefty O’Doul bridge gate) at 5:30pm to greet fans and create awareness of the @sfgiants and @sfrecpark plan to convert our public park into a privatized, plastic sports complex. Make your own sign or we will have plenty for you to use! Let’s get LOUD! #protest #naturelovers #sanfrancisco #rights #useyourvoice @sfstandard @sfpissedoffvoters @sf.beforesunset @sfpublicpress @sfchildrennature @sfchronicle @danielluriesf @sfgate @indivisible_sf @sfyouthcom @dsa_sf @48hillssf

Come meet our young maker, Sophia of Cute Axolotl, at the Young Makers & Entrepreneurs Mini Market event on Friday, July 10th from 5pm - 7pm!

They’ll be selling:
All things axolotl, from original Artwork, Posters, Greeting cards (hand painted, digitalized & printed) & Hand made worry stones

Sophia is passionate about axolotls. She loves drawing them, creating stories about them, and making fun projects inspired by her favorite animal. She already got many of her friends interested in axolotls too. Sophia asked me to help open her Etsy shop, and we are currently in the process of setting it up.
We plan to sell her artwork and creative projects like stickers, greeting cards, posters, and small handmade items. We hope to grow by sharing her art with friends, family, social media, and local events. People really connect with Sophia’s creativity and excitement, and we want to turn that into a fun small business she can grow over time. I’m also currently working on adjusting my schedule so I can support Sophia more with her business ideas and creative projects.
