[#one8] Racquet Club label head, DJ and producer One Eight (One_8 / 1—8) brings a unique style to the club. Equal parts introspective and energetic, One_8 packs tuff club cuts shrouded in dubwise pressure, balancing dance music history with club modernism.

One Eight plays 12—1:30AM in the club alongside Darcy Justice, Pjenné and Kush Jones (NYC) tonight at Miscellania.

Tickets available in the bio.

Since 2019, Racquet Club has established itself as an important platform for Aotearoa club music, facilitating the exposure of Oceanic talent to a global audience.

Now based in Naarm, Racquet Club has maintained ties to Aotearoa New Zealand through releases and mix series editions while simultaneously contributing to the rich club music fabric of Melbourne, establishing a connection that fosters a greater trans-Tasman exchange of artists. The mission to uplift local scenes holds strong since the relocation, continuing to curate releases, mixes and live events where international headliners provide an opportunity to spotlight emerging Australian/New Zealand talent.

Big shout out to Samuel Forbes whose DNA, influence and approach runs heavily throughout the label. Ngā mihi nui e hoa.

Enjoy a selection of past releases, events and mixes above. To support the kaupapa, please join us for our next show with Kush Jones (NYC) at Miscellania, Friday 16 January. Tickets available in our bio.

Aotearoa New Zealand label Racquet Club debut at Miscellania (@miscellania_) with a leader of contemporary American club music: Kush Jones
(Juke Bounce Werk / NYC).

A committed advocate for black, female and minority artists, Kush (@kush_jones_) consistently works to uplift those around him and reminds us of the communities to which all club music owes its existence. Paired with a slew of standout releases both on global labels and home-turf JBW (@jukebouncewerk) makes it a privilege to welcome him for Racquet Club’s first night at Misc.

Alongside Kush, a few of our favourite local selectors Pjenné (@pjenneee), Darcy Justice (@darcyjusticedj) and One Eight (@one_________8 / NZ) hold down a diverse and danceable club tip, while Hugo Incognito (@hugo.incognito), DJ Chrysalis (@comfortablechrysalis / Public Possession) and Butterfly 69 (@sage_stevens) keep it warm on the rooftop.

Enjoy a couple of archival photos from our 2022 show in Wellington with Kush, Surly (@surly_nz), Borrowed CS (@corychampion), Current Bias (@c_bia5), Una & Zeb (@unadl & @zebadiahhhh)

Tickets available via in the spot!
