A little collage so you can gather an understanding of how special the River Bend Lane Art Walks backdrop is.

There is something truly unique about seeing an artist creations displays untraditionally, up against Kimberley’s magnificent landscape.

Lots of great local food events coming up… which you can find out more about over on the KCFN events calendar — or check out the general gist below👇

🌱 April 14 & 21 — Seed Starting Workshops at the @kimberleypubliclibrary with gardeners from @kegg.ca and the @wildsightkimcran Community Garden, offering a hands-on chance to learn the basics of seed starting and plant seeds to take home and grow.

🗣️ April 13, 14, 20 & 21 — The @kimberleyfarmersmarket is hosting a series of kickoff conversations to help shape the 2026 season, including sessions focused on community brainstorming as well as builders, tinkerers, and makers interested in the market’s physical space (with both morning café meetups at @beantree_cafe_kimberley and evening gatherings at @overtimebeer).

🌱 April 18 — The Cranbrook Seed Saving Workshop at the @cranbrookpubliclibrary will feature Mary Cosman and the @cranbrookpublicproducegarden sharing practical seed saving knowledge for growing plants suited to our local environment.

🥗 April 18 — Wildsight Kimberley Cranbrook’s monthly Plant-based Potluck at the Cranbrook Public Library is a welcoming space to bring a plant-based dish, swap recipes, and connect with others over food and community.

🌍 April 22 — The Wildsight Community Garden Earth Day Open House is a chance to celebrate Earth Day with a free open house, garden tour, and some hands-in-the-soil time.

🥫 April 25 — The @cranbrookfoodbank City-Wide Food Drive is a community-wide effort to help fill shelves and support local families by leaving donations out for pickup.

🌾 April 26 — @one_small_acre and @earthkeeper.alchemy.farmstead are hosting a Community Seed Swap, where people can bring seeds to share and connect with others getting ready for the growing season.

🥞 May 8 — Kimberley Home Building Centre is hosting a Pancake Breakfast by Donation in support of the @kimberleyfoodbank, with breakfast, community connection, and all donations going toward local food support.

Cheers to everyone helping make these events happen + please reach out if you have a local food event to list in the KCFN events calendar!

Let’s shine a light on the hardworking women keeping the Kootenays growing and thriving! 🚜✨

In honor of the 2026 UN’s International Year of the Woman Farmer, we are dedicated to showcasing the amazing women shaping agriculture right in our community.

Today, we’re absolutely thrilled to introduce the faces running these fantastic local businesses:

🐝 @honeybeezen
🏔️ @bullriverguestranch
🌱 @one_small_acre
🌸 @wellspring.flowerfarm

And the celebration doesn’t stop here. We’ll be highlighting more women and their businesses throughout the year to ensure their hard work is recognized.

So, who’s next on our list? We want you to tag an incredible woman you know, whether she’s gardening, a flower farmer, a dairy farmer, a horse woman, an herbalist, or anyone else who deserves a shoutout! 🤔👇

Drop their names in the comments or send us a DM. We’ll reach out to feature them in an upcoming post. Let’s share the love! 💜
