Introducing Jonathan Vo to our Hybrid line up. Jonathan will be presenting "Safe Brutality," an audiovisual work exploring how light, movement, visual rhythms, and sound can evoke emotions surrounding the concept of "brutal”. This piece was made in collaboration with Santino Castagna

Focusing on the Capitol Theatre, the work creates a raw and immersive experience through different brutal mechanics, inviting audiences to experience brutality as both an aesthetic and emotional force.

For Hybrid, Hans created a browser-based survival game pictured with the sensory overload of her hometown. The game shifts the player’s perspective to a cockroach, an insect that is very admirable for its toughness and ability to survive. By inhabiting this resilient body, the piece works as a micro-escape, offering a brief change in perspective for players. Original sound and music by OneSoundEveryDay play a key role in shaping the mood and rhythm of the experience.

Han Hoan is a 3D artist and designer whose work focuses on human-centered design and how digital forms influence the way we experience and interact with the world. For this project, she collaborates with OneSoundEveryDay, a producer and artist with a daily sound-making practice, to create and document original soundscapes and music.

AV Work | Brutal | Capitol Theatre
First time messing around with lights

This project invites audience to explore audiovisual design, especially how it can evoke emotions surrounding the concept of "brutal." I mainly focus on the Capitol Theatre, where I use light, movement, and visual rhythms, along with sound, to create a brutal experience. My aim is to evoke a raw and memorable experience that highlights brutality as both an aesthetic and emotional force through these brutal mechanics: aggressive visual stimulation, safe brutality, and morbid curiosity.
