When you spend some time getting to know your garments, it just might lead you to the flowers.

The Marigold Dye Workshop hosted by @onethread.collective and taught by @sam_dixza @__felise was so special. To learn the cultural roots and context of such a special flower was such a privilege - one we hope to continue to extend the opportunity to get to know.

Our underwear is white/cream because that is what the natural fibers speak as. But yesterday was a marriage of color. Guests got the opportunity to make the natural dye, learn the process, learn the lineage, and play with the color and the design.

AND BEHOLD- yellow SANA has been born. 🐝

It’s been such an honor to get to learn from Felise & Sam. We love these workshops because we believe in slow fashion, in connecting with the frequency of what we’ve got on, of what touches our hearts on our skin everyday.

So huge thank you the masterful guidance, and to Jackie for opening her space for such an intentional ceremony of natural color.

Email sanawearco@gmail.com to join our future workshops!

"Reconnection & Collaboration for Economies Beyond Growth"

Some pictures from our second in-person event in Santa Barbara, this time organized in collaboration with the amazing human beings of @onethread.collective - check out their webpage and support their work!

What would the world look like if the economy served people’s needs and prioritized the health of all beings?

We had the pleasure to facilitate a very engaged and participated conversation on the possibilities for collective life beyond the currently dominant model of extraction and exploitation.

There is momentum about post-growth and degrowth pathways to end capitalism in California - we felt it here in Santa Barbara as well!

Seguimos!

Spin for Colombia 🇨🇴 Meet @onethread.collective

One Thread Collective joins Spin for Colombia, a nonprofit social enterprise uplifting and empowering Wayuu artisans from La Guajira, Colombia.

They’ll be presenting their Susus, extra large handwoven tote bags traditionally used by the Wayuu people to carry chinchorros on extended trips away from home, with a slightly stretchy weave that makes them ideal as overnight bags, carry-ons, or market bags.

One piece on show was handwoven by Adelaida Epinayu of the El Ahumao community, La Guajira, a labour of love that took 3 to 4 weeks to complete.

📅 Sunday 6 September | 10am to 5pm
📍 Mule Coffee Roasters, Marrickville NSW
☕ Entry minimum $15 donation includes a coffee
🎟️ Humanitix or Gofundme - Link in bio

All net proceeds support the Colombian Red Cross earthquake response.

🇨🇴 Hosted by Mule Coffee Roasters, Discoteca Tropical and Other Latin Art * Lathing Australia.
