@protoanimaliaproject Singapore D E B U T. Thank you to everyone who came out. We know how expensive it is to go out in Singapore. Moments like this are what make it 100% worth the massive effort and $$ for us. @gonemune is now Proto Animalia Project honorary member. At @3ndlessreturn we only appreciate unhinged freak energy + we are booking 🇸🇬🇹🇭🇮🇩🇻🇳🇲🇾 local/regional acts only and will price our tickets as high as when booking DJs from the West and commercial headliners because we believe they’re worth it and more. Goodnight.

Also thank you to @nospoilers.sg and @umamifx 😉 also we need a favor, @mervinwong00 + @111xue111 were too busy to dokument the show. Friends who took videos, please DM us.

@sanjonas_ + @robodtz of (@protoanimaliaproject) will be playing DJ sets at @wildpearlstudio tomorrow at 3pm. Feel free to stop by and hang out. [FREE]

OUT NOW. JAWIR — Proto Animalia Project @protoanimaliaproject
Released under Endless Return 🇸🇬
ORDER: protoanimaliaproject.bandcamp.com/album/jawir
RELEASE PARTY 🎟️ bit.ly/protopesta @nospoilers.sg

The EP “JAWIR” serves as a sonic critique of the stigma that often leads to feelings of inferiority and marginalization, especially among those who move to a big city. By reclaiming and deconstructing the term, Proto Animalia aims to raise awareness about the deeper social implications of such stereotypes, challenging listeners to reflect on the impact of language and cultural perceptions on minorities, alienation, stereotyping, and discrimination.

01. Ha Njuk Ngopo Nek Jathilan
02. Jumawa
03. Indang Boti
04. Tempat Tenggelamnya Sang Ratu
05. Merah, Marah, dan Tempe Goreng

Ultimately, “JAWIR” is not just a musical release but a statement against the reinforcement of negative stereotypes, calling for a more nuanced and respectful understanding of cultural identity.

We are all different, so what?

„Fluid Identities: Exploring Queerness and Tradition“

A collaboration between SAVVY Contemporary and Ballhaus Prinzenallee: neighbors things.

Framed within the PARANORMA series and the project CURES: Chronic Promises.

Come be part of a neighborhood project. This event is designed as a place to connect and share experiences. Afterwards there will be music and drinks to share.

This chapter of SAVVY meets PARANORMA features two performances that focus on gender fluidity, personal narrative and the fusion of traditional and contemporary artistic practices. It highlights the interplay between individual experiences, cultural heritage and broader social contexts, explored through dance, literature and performance.

HERMAPRODITO (beyond the idea of queerness) is a work in progress by Otniel Tasman that uses the body as a political instrument to challenge conventional perceptions and explore themes of radicalism, diversity, and institutional violence through transfeminist and queer perspectives.

Otniel’s residency is part of the REFLEKT residency programme by Goethe-Institut Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines together with SAVVY Contemporary and TanzFaktur for artists and cultural practitioners from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Timor-Leste.

THIS REALITY IS CONCRETE by Hana Hazem Arabi and Nader Humaidan blends songs, dance, and literature to explore queer identities and struggles, highlighting the interplay between personal and collective realities amidst conflict and war.

Wahhhhh we are so excited to announce that @protoanimaliaproject ‘s latest single ‘Jumawa’ released under our label has been featured on Spotify’s playlist ‘Fresh Finds Indonesia’. @spotifyid

Proto Animalia Project is a groundbreaking collective that merges sound, visuals, and movement into a unique artistic experience. Led by Mahamboro as XO-101 (The Sonic Alchemist/Music), Byakta Babam as Nudibranchia (The Dreamforge Designer/costume designer and visual aesthetic), and Otniel Tasman as COLEXMAN (The Dance Sorcerer/Dancer), the trio blends electronic music, traditional Javanese sounds, surreal costumes, and contemporary dance. Their performances explore identity, culture, and the unknown, offering audiences a ritualistic journey through time and space, through their own imaginary mind. Proto Animalia Project challenges artistic boundaries, creating immersive experiences that redefine the future of performance art.

Catch them at our EP release party at @nospoilers.sg on October 12. Tickets: bit.let/protopesta with an all star line-up of some of our sg favs. Congrats to @robodtz @b_bm @oniltasman .

The full ‘JAWIR’ [EP] drops on 11 Oct, 12am GMT+8 🔥🔥🔥
