This Black Maternal Mental Health Week, we’re celebrating joy. The joy that can be found in connection, in being seen, and in having a community around you.

@falsownclub is a group of mums who show up for each other every week in London, creating space to walk, talk, connect and simply be together.

Yesterday, we had the joy of supporting their walk. At MAM, we both understand the importance of having a community around you, especially through motherhood, and what it means to have people who continue to show up.

So this was about exactly that: celebrating Black motherhood, celebrating joy, and showing up for the mums who show up for each other every week. 💙

This Black Maternal Mental Health Week, we’re shining a light on some of the issues that disproportionately affect Black women throughout pregnancy and postpartum.

During her pregnancy, Destinie experienced fibroids and was surprised by the lack of clear information and support around how they could affect her pregnancy journey.

With up to 8 in 10 Black women developing fibroids, Destinie’s experience is far from rare. Yet information and support can still be difficult to find.

Women like Destinie deserve to have their voices heard and their concerns prioritised. We’re grateful to Destinie for sharing her story and helping bring greater awareness to an issue that affects so many.

Join our founder @sandeeigwe, Christina @xtinaokenla of Bodied By XO, and @onlydestt of @falsownclub for a morning outdoors with other mothers and supporters. Expect a relaxed walk, honest conversations, new connections and a gentle fitness session led by Christina.

Supported by the Perinatal Mental Health Team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. 💕

Supporting Black maternal mental health takes a community. Bringing mothers, friends, community organisations and healthcare professionals together creates space to listen, connect and strengthen that support. Walking outdoors gives us an opportunity to pause, move and check in with one another.

Happy Mother’s Day 🤍🫂✨

becoming a mum changed my life in ways I never expected.
It showed me how important community, support, and spaces for mothers really are.

That’s one of the reasons I started Fal’s Own Club: to create somewhere mums can connect, feel seen, and continue discovering themselves alongside motherhood.

So grateful to be Fallon’s mum, and so grateful for all the amazing mothers who are part of this community.
