We're ringing the dinner bell for some BIG, Satisfying, Southern Suppers this Saturday & Sunday. Big suppers like our soon-to-be famous Chicken Fried Steak with Southern Gravy, Butter Mash, & Crispy Brussels.

Do people still ring dinner bells? Does anyone even know what they are? Should we be sending push notifications instead? Doesn't quite have the same ring to it. 🔔

Book tables or order takeout at saltlick.ca or by phone. Walk-ins accommodated, delivery available.

What an incredible day getting to know some of the people and places behind Ontario beef. 🐂🌾

We joined @OntBeef for their Local Flavour Tour, spending the afternoon visiting two working Ontario beef farms, walking the land and, most importantly, hearing directly from the farmers who raise the beef that ends up on our tables.

There’s something special about standing on a farm and having the people who work that land every day share their stories, their knowledge and the care that goes into raising their cattle and looking after the land around them.

We finished the tour the best way we know how: around the table. Dinner at Paris Beer Company brought the day full circle with a locally inspired meal featuring Ontario beef and other flavours from close to home.

Days like this are a great reminder that choosing local reaches far beyond what’s on our plate. It supports Ontario farmers, food businesses and the communities connected to them.

Next time you’re shopping for beef, ask your local butcher for Ontario Beef. 🥩

My car had icicles on it this morning. Time for Nonna’s minestrone ❤️ Same-size veggies, salt, a parmigiano rind, pelati 🍅, beans, ground beef, and bay leaves. Everything in one pot, all “a occhio” (by eye). Perfect every time. That’s it! That’s the recipe! 😅

We're not above admitting when we're wrong. Contrary to last week's cooking in cold weather post, we can now confirm that BBQ does, in fact, taste better on sunny days.

Like pretty much, we can almost certainly confirm it. We should probably run a few more tests just to be sure. If you're feeling scientific, stop by for some Brisket.

Book a table or takeout online or by phone. Walk-ins accommodated, delivery available.

Ontario Agriculture Week is wrapping up, but our appreciation for farmers continues all year.

Today, we’re celebrating Beef Farmers of Ontario and the farmers whose daily work caring for their cattle helps bring Ontario beef to our tables.

Farmers’ Markets Ontario is proud to partner with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture to support a strong, represented farming community. Many OFA members sell their products at farmers’ markets across Ontario, where a conversation at the market can create a lasting connection with a local farm.

Keep the celebration going: visit a farmers’ market, ask about Ontario-raised beef and support the farmers in your community.

Spent our Friday evening building wardrobes. We grabbed #takeout dinner to take a break. Disappointed as dumplings were mediocre.

Our order:
🥟Steamed pork and cabbage dumplings
🥟Pan-fried beef and carrot dumplings
🍲Stir-fried noodles with beef
