Seen here installed @oolongallery in Rancho Santa Fe, CA in 2025 A rectangular abstract painting on a weathered, cream-colored ground. Eight narrow, brightly colored triangular bands radiate from a single point slightly right of center, extending toward the edges like a fan or burst: dark green, lime green, yellow, orange, and red. The paint surface is heavily cracked and distressed, giving the geometric composition an aged, tactile appearance. The design recalls the geometric abstraction of Kazimir Malevich and Russian Constructivism, while the radiating bands and optical tension suggest Op Art. The artist’s signature, “Michael Gugoltz,” appears in black at the lower right.

opening moments for Sally Scopa in Tribeca

Last night was the big opening night for galleries in Tribeca. It’s just the tip of the iceberg as the days progress and art season comes into full bloom. Wonderful to see so many friends out and about, smiles all around. Here is just some of what I saw, I’ll post more in my stories.

1 + 2: My old neighbor @davidnolangallery moved from the Upper East Side downtown into Timothy Taylor’s old space on Leonard Street. He inaugurated the gallery with a phenomenal exhibition with work by @archivio_valerioadami Congratulations, David!
