What happens when @northworkslab and @sudo_solder team up to build a radar project?

Exactly: this!
Each room has its own radar sensor that detects every movement. The incorrect points are where the radar signals overlap. There’s still room for improvement, but it’s a perfectly acceptable version for a start!

Finally, true 360-degree horizontal surveillance! I was confident in my radar project, but the 60-degree blind spot kept bothering me. So I mounted a second LiDAR horizontally, removed the rear radar, and thus achieved 8-meter frontal radar coverage plus 12-meter 360-degree surveillance.

You can still see through walls, and the 3D map is expanded to a diameter of 50 meters by the LiDAR.

NO PAID ADD!
I barely promote things, but the Elements Tech Case Max from @alpakagear is something I want to show you. It’s small, good quality and all my devices fit inside. If one of you is looking for a real good bag try this out.

And yes: I promote it because I was searching for something like this for a long time.

360-degree real-world test completed!
Two radar sensors offset by 180 degrees and shielded with metal plates produce virtually no interference. There is a small blind spot, which I may be able to eliminate through interpolation if necessary.

The ESP32’s transmission power is simply outstanding—virtually lossless. The motion detection and proximity alarm work flawlessly.

Big thanks for the inspiration @_maik.held @davidkarnowski

A simple radar sensor connected via Wi-Fi to a display that detects movement through doors and provides an early warning.

All powered by an ESP32 and an Arduino display. Easy to build yourself: Check out my GitHub

What began a few months ago as a weekend project has evolved in ways I never imagined within just a few months.

It started with a simple ESP32-based radar system.

Then came the transition to Linux.
Next, a LiDAR sensor and a thermal camera were added to the radar module. This integration sparked the idea of converting 2D data into 3D to create a complete surveillance system. First try with a robot was to tricky so I changed the rotating basis to a 360 servomotor with constant feedback.

Do you like the stuff I build?
Check my profile I have some more!

Being alone in a forest is scary.
But not if you have this surveillance system with you.
You can track any movement around you. They can’t hide and you see them first.

All performed with an esp32, some sensors and a uconsole for remote surveillance.

Timestamp is the key.

I’m currently building a mobile sensor-fusion robot combining LiDAR, radar and IMU data for real-time mapping.

Precise time synchronization keeps every measurement aligned while the robot is moving, allowing motion compensation, persistent mapping and cleaner sensor fusion.

Inspired by my dude @northworkslab I gonna add in part 2 a much more precise LIDAR. Stay tuned!

The goal: one compact platform for mapping, localization and live environmental awareness.
