Oh my goodness!

I was supposed to post this three weeks ago! That’s how busy life has been. 🤪That said, little man has done and graduated from 5th grade and is ready to move onto middle school. 🎓 ❤️

I honestly don’t know how time could fly so quickly, but then I think about all he accomplished this year… And that explains everything. 😊❤️

He achieved 2 tip Brown Belt 🥋 , playing trombone🪊, joined robotics 🤖, GT, science fair 🧬 , basketball 🏀, and was on 2 soccer ⚽️ teams… all while enjoying video games 🎮, friends, and maintaining straight A-Honor Roll, phew!

Come to think of it, now I know why I’m so exhausted! I was actually dancing 💃🏽, so excited that he was going to be done with 5th grade, but was also feeling a little nostalgic about it. He’s built some good relationships and some of those friends will be moving on with him to the new school. 🏫 😎

Congratulations little guy! I am so proud of all that you have done and the sweet, smart and strong boy that you are. I look forward to continuing to see you grow into the best person you can be! ❤️ #proudmomma #karatekids #soccermomlife #grad

In celebration of the 2026 Brain Awareness Week the SfN Sun City Chapter and Operation Outbreak are hosting a neuroscience-themed escape room on April 7th, 2026. 🧠 Spaces are limited so hurry to book your slot using the link in our bio!

Escape Room Backstory:

In 1994, the Sun City Institute of Neurological Sciences was studying prion proteins as concern over mad cow disease grew. Researchers focused on how misfolded proteins spread in the brain and disrupt normal brain functions, but a containment failure during a late-stage experiment triggered a lockdown.

Within a day, exposed scientists developed worsening neurological symptoms, including slowed reactions, emotional instability, and declining coordination. As their condition progressed, primitive and aggressive behaviors emerged, and they were restrained while being observed without proper ethical oversight. A power failure soon disabled monitoring systems and sealed the facility, cutting off communication with senior staff.

You awaken inside the locked building with no memory of how you arrived, though it seems like you are one of the exposed scientists and that someone inside the facility may have contributed to the breach. To prevent progression to the final stage of illness, you must search the researchers’ notes for clues and identify a possible cure.

The building remains in lockdown.
The outbreak protocol is active.

8 years. Wow. It’s wild to think it’s been that long since my sister and I took a leap and opened this little escape room. I still remember being so nervous, just hoping people would show up and like it.

We never in a million years dreamed it would grow to this, welcoming over 150,000 customers. We just wanted to build something cool for our city.

To everyone in El Paso and the borderland who has supported us, played our rooms, and cheered us on: thank you. From the bottom of my heart. We’re so proud to be your only locally owned escape room, and we couldn't have done any of this without you. Here's to many more!

Yesterday was pretty awesome. From my broke coworker (won't say her name here out of respect) starting the day off with a bang and somehow getting Gabriel Iglesias to roast me too, to all the homies that made me feel like I'm some kinda special human and not just a big lump of meat.

My birthday was amazing and I love you all for making 33 feel so good. Sincerely, everyone who roasted me, toasted me, sent the birthday wishes, and everyone who offered to fight me in the street. I love every single one of you.

P.S.
That last picture is framed badly because we didn't win the escape room. We lost. That photo doesn't deserve to look good cause it's full of losers.

Last Wednesday, we hit pause on our daily tasks and took some time to prioritize team building with Joe, our staff members and our summer law clerks. There’s no better way to strengthen our bond than by tackling the ultimate challenge: an escape room! Together, we cracked codes, solved puzzles, and successfully recovered La Llorona’s lost pendant. We were spooked a few times, but don’t worry Jacob M…. what happens in the escape room, stays in the escape room. Bwahahaha!

Also, shoutout to @operationoutbreak staff who kept us moving when we got stuck… even if one of the clues was literally the word, “bruh.” We love the sarcasm! Nothing says teamwork like collectively yelling, “bruh?” back at the screen, right? Anywho, we’re happy to report that we survived LA LLORANA, which boasts only a 30% passing rate! Not too shabby, SLF Team!

After this legendary activity, we’re ready for more experiences to enhance the SLF Team camaraderie. What other team building activities should we participate in? We’ll be sure to document all the thrills, spills, and chills that occur along the way
