In my class at @opestationery on Tuesday, I asked everyone if it was autumn FOR THEM, like in their hearts. And everyone said yes (even the person visiting from Tennessee, where it’s been 80 degrees!) SO– here is a little fall flyer, ft. new colors and slightly different phrasing because my classes aren’t just writin classes, they are very much writing in community. If you’ve never come to one before– we brainstorm with the person sitting beside us, we share our writing with our table, we read aloud to the group, we laugh with the group, we clap for each other. It’s pretty special. Hope to see you at one of these upcoming classes at @backcovebooks or @opestationery !!

October editions are in the mail! This month, our community members get a mini newspaper, a hand-painted watercolor postcard to send to a friend, pressed fall leaves, stickers from our neighborhood stationary store (Ope! on Congress) and, of course, a handwritten letter. 🍂🍁🍎💌

A little summer writing recap ☀️✍️ I’m so grateful to all of the local businesses and nonprofits that partnered with me to make these classes happen—and to everyone who showed up to write with me! This summer, I:
• Offered free outdoor writing classes at Congress Square Park @congresssquare
• Started monthly writing nights at Ope! @opestationery
• Continued my monthly classes with my longest-running partner, Back Cove Books @backcovebooks
• Taught my first-ever memoir class at Falmouth Memorial Library @falmouthmemoriallibrary
• Taught Yoga & Writing with Miranda at Portland Yoga Project (plus a spring class at Riverbend!) @theportlandyogaproject @riverbendyogastudio @treehuggerchick It’s been so lovely to see so many local spaces make room for writing and community this year—and to see so many writers keep showing up. (My October Ope! Class is already sold out?!?! THANK YOU!)  To hear about my fall classes FIRST (before I post about them), DM me your email! Or click the link in my bio to sign up :)

Two #stationeryshops I visited in #PortlandMaine! First was @thepost.supply and the second was @opestationery. So many cute things I never saw before and some familiar things I didn’t have a chance to get yet! Loved seeing @itslauradoodles and @heysooj stuff.

Please gaze upon my huge pile of tchotchkes gathered on my recent journeys. I know of at least several people shaking they’re heads right now and thinking, “Oh, Khanh…”, but they also know I will never not love a trinket and love me anyway. And mentally, I think my collection really captures the kind of joy, fun, and adventures I had while I’ve been away the last few weeks. For example, who wouldn’t get a Ben and Jerry’s button to brag about how you ate there at least three different times because you were literally a ten minute drive from the factory?! And it totally made sense to grab these Lowenbrau buttons when shopping in a antique barn converted into a vintage shop in Vermont? And of course regional stickers because they’re cheaper than a shirt, and I won’t have to donate a memory if I get a sauce stain on it (ha, “if”). I have a bumper crop of zines now! I love collecting them because it guarantees I’ve supported a local artist, but it also means probably found a really rad place because what place that sells zines is boring? More stickers because I LOVE STICKERS. It will be this way until I die and my nieces and nephew will carry on that torch. And realistically, my top go tos on any adventure is bookstore/stationary shop and if stickers don’t make their way home with me, did I really go anywhere? My trinket pile of nonsense! From pressed Pennie’s at Stuckey’s to pockets full of random acorns that travelled state lines, all these bits and bobs have a silly story. I won’t bore you will all of them right now, but I will have their stories in my head years from now, I insist! And highlight prize of my trip is this cryptid comic I got from local artist Thy L. At The Art Department In Portland, ME. I emphatically insist you check them out when you’re in the area and support the great work they do! Travel pics to come! I
