I think I’ve always misunderstood meditation and mindfulness. I read about different techniques here and there, and growing up in the east of Eastern Europe, these techniques were often seen as ‘hippie’ and ‘time-wasting’. It was much later, after many attempts and practices, that I realized not everyone has the same taste for meditation. Different times also call for different techniques.

Even if it’s exhausting, I have always loved having my brain constantly on fire, but I knew I had to do better because I rarely followed through with my ideas or goals. Social media and doom scrolling definitely made things worse. I can’t imagine how it is for the next generation, whose dopamine levels are already on the next evolutionary step.

But meditation can offer a safe space for whatever we need: inspiration, visualization, calming down, easier sleep, or tuning in, etc.
