October 7th. Art Walk. Snyder Memorial.
No time better than the present, no?

DUVAL, in collaboration: @winedownwednesdayjax , @bazaar_47 & @oqulon bring you The Cypher.

This is will be a high-energy stage featuring select performances from some of Jacksonville’s finest amongst Bazar 47’s Market, with a rap cypher open to all to conclude the night.

If you’re unfamiliar,
The Cypher is Winedown’s staple, a real test of one’s ability to rap, and they run it like no one else.

Conversations on the state of rap are everywhere right now, so let’s keep talking. This time on the mic.

See you on the 7th.

What Comes Before Destruction?
(Campaign Final) #rap

SYNOPSIS:
I started this to wake my city up.

Redid Control, called out a majority of rappers I admire, with a much larger goal then: ‘proving I was better’. I wanted to see how pride in craft moves when you poke it & funnel that passion toward something greater.
But that’s the thing with pride.
It’s easy to believe we’re absolved from it.

Through this, I learned I’m not above it.
One of my responses came from a place of ego. I got personal & honestly God convicted me on that.
So I did what I know best & had a conversation on it.
I Apologized.

This verse is the conclusion.
It features two shots at the top for the me I gotta kill daily. Everything after that is just me walking you through where I was and hopefully reflecting a mirror as I’ve learned from my own mistakes. With my big brother @jwalkertheartist sealing it at the end.

Beef is what they expect from Jacksonville.
But I have dreams of unity & to me venting frustrations was needed for what comes next.

Class is soon in session.
I thank y’all for participatin’.
More to come.

: Merci & Friends [ACT I]
From Us to You.

Proof that with Jesus, Faith & a bit of Belief, the most far fetched ideas are executable. We were Art Walks first Concert. That’s History!

I found myself reflecting on our activation with nothin’ but gratefulness. God showed up in so many ways to bring you all our first ACT. From:
@haleyiswright_ & @dtjax for trusting history could be made.
@hushhushjax for sponsoring production resources.
@kerikaloni for bein’ an amazing host!
@jwalkertheartist & gia_miele for curating alongside me.
@_rabg for blessin’ me both as a brother & fan of his Art.
@iamdjlarrylove for being another piece of wisdom!

And those are only a few.
S/O to our performing artist & production (@ in comments).
These are people who openly shared their gifts and made sacrifices for a shared Goal of Love as Christ intended!

“Blessed enough to be a part of a collective that embodies the heart of my city. @mercijamarr man I really got to be amongst the people and I couldn’t thank you and your team and sponsors enough for making that happen. The ArtWalk was beautiful, the show spectacular and the night…big success. “

We performed at Merci & Friends Concert and let’s just say the experience was like no other 🤩✊🏾🙏🏾

Here is once small glimpse of CagedBird actually in the crowd talking to the people through his poetry and his music!

@twistedokiebbq and @lemonlaid_lady took good care of us while we were out there too. Great food and drinks

Overall the Art Walk is always a highlight of our cities rich and diverse culture and the influence of art, and how it bridges many gaps that have been created through propaganda, social injustice, misinformation and lack of understanding. Many people share similar outlets to get away from it all and this month was a marvelous display of that.

Every 1st Wednesday Art Walk takes place in the downtown area starting at James Weldon Johnson Park. We recommend you come out especially if you’ve never been you will love it.

The stage keeps calling… and this Wednesday, I’ll be answering. 🖤

I’m honored to be the Featured Friend for Merci & Friends, presented by Oqulon. If you’ve been waiting to catch me in a more intimate setting, this is one of those nights.

We’ll be a part of Downtown Jacksonville’s Art Walk, where the city comes alive with local artists, music, creativity, and community. If you’re already planning to stroll through downtown, make sure you stop by and catch this set.

Every poem carries a piece of the journey, and I plan on bringing every bit of that energy to the mic.

Come early. Stay present. Bring somebody who needs to hear something real.
