We’re pleased to announce four projects starting next week for BEAR Fine Art students in years 2 and 3, with guests FEMKE HERREGRAVEN, ÂNGELO CUSTÓDIO, PUCK VERKADE and REMCO TORENBOSCH.

Ângelo Custódio @oralityovermorality is an artist, researcher, performer and educator working with voice, writing and sound, creating sonic-based experiences from a crip~queer positionality. Trained as a classical singer, Ângelo explores techno-somatic ways of voicing and poetics, developing sonic encounters that open “cracks” toward wild(er), freer ecologies of living.

Femke Herregraven’s @femherregraven work explores how abstract value systems shape ecosystems, language, historiography and daily life. Drawing on research into financial markets and risk, she builds iterative sculptures, drawings, films, simulations and hybrid installations that reflect on how these systems shape our experience of reality. Femke is currently showing as part of @sonsbeek_artprojects

Puck Verkade @puckverkade is a Dutch artist and educator based in Berlin, making installations, sculptures and videos that pull viewers into surreal, cartoon-like worlds where comedy and critique intertwine. Playful and subversive, her work has a haunting undertone, revisiting the archetypal narratives that shape our social systems — touching on accountability, complicity, reproductive rights and bodily agency, always with curiosity and humour.

Remco Torenbosch’s @remcotorenbosch practice unveils the systems of political-economic governance that organize and sustain global economic power. He has exhibited at Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, V&A London, Kunsthaus Zürich, Kunsthalle Wien and more, and has taught at Yale School of Art, ArtCenter Pasadena and IULM Milan, among others.

From two landscapes facing each other, an ancestral practice we looked at from afar, yet heard its echo, to an ear that speaks, a warmly printed recipe to be shared at the bon fire towards a dancing release.

Here we return to the last day of 𝐂𝐎𝐎𝐏 𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, which will forever stay engraved in our minds.

In the afternoon from Le Monacelle we watched and listened to COOP study group 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠, that is Ayse Idil Idil, Carlos Azeredo Mesquita, Dory Samuel, Henriks Zegners, Ilja Schamlé, Leo Hugendubel, Nika Pećarina, Olfa Arfaoui, Patrick Freriksen, Rikke Lundgaard Ebling, Sophie Dandanell with tutors Frédérique Bergholtz and Angelo Custodio climbing and chanting on the Gravina in their 𝑵𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆, to then move to a very lively Parco Scultura La Palomba activated by 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭—𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝 (Anahi Saravia Herrera, Dana Andrei, Despina Sanida Crezia, Egle A. $The next session of the ‘for the listen to live here’ series is guided by voice and sound artist, researcher, and performer Angelo Custodio. Through listening, he facilitates processes that hold space for regenerative movement and nourish relational understandings of the bodymindvoice. His work develops sonic encounters with the vulnerable, opening “cracks” to wild(er) spaces that utterly invite freer ecologies of living. This session emerges from a collaboration between Angelo Custodio and shy*play to explore diffractive practices of polyphony. This means composing in difference yet in relation, where each voice carries its own worlds, creating a multivocality that follows no hierarchy and seeks no unity. Through various scores, a range of different possibilities of participation will be prompted, from the use of the voice for humming, murmuring, stuttering, etc., to engaging in spatial movement or stimming practices such as rocking and circling. The space will be arranged with hanging fabrics to avoid the need for facial centering and other neurotypical conventions. Those who feel marginalized or silenced in mainstream spaces are especially warmly invited. Participants require no prior experience. Drinks and snacks will be offered throughout. 📍WG Plein 881, Amsterdam 🕔Saturday 4 April, 14-17hr (doors open at 13.45hr) Free 🔗 Tickets via the link in bio ➝Covid testing To help everyone feel comfortable and safe, please take a Covid test before the event; if you have symptoms, please do not attend and let us know so we can offer your spot to someone else.
