I am doing a virtual talk with the wonderful @orangebeakstudio on November 12th at 7 pm UK time (that’s 12:30 am IST on the 13th for anyone in India). It will be recorded and you will have access to the recording for a week.

I have admired the work Orange Beak does for so long, and it’s an honour to be doing this talk with them. I will chat about my illustration process, how I make difficult books palatable and my inspirations. There will be time for questions too, so ask me anything!

I love seeing people’s intro posts getting to know their creative backstory so I’ve decided to do a little intro of my own 🌼

Hello and thank you to everyone who’s followed me for a long time or joined me for the ride more recently - every single like, follow, share, save and comment is appreciated and helps me on my journey 💕
.
My creative path is definitely a wiggly one with its own little peaks and troughs, and in the last year or so I have certainly endeavoured to post more and make drawing a priority. I’ve realised that, to me, success means keeping going and developing my own work even if I don’t feel like I’m getting anywhere. Drawing is an important part of me and while Instagram and social media can be strange places it is an opportunity to share my work with the world ❤️

We are simply over the moon that the glorious Pomona: Tales From the Cat Witch has been chosen as the Children’s Indie Book of the Month for October! This is the first picture book from Guppy and what a stunning book it is - six tales of Pomona and her friends from the award-winning creatively brilliant Tor Freeman (who also won the Week Junior Graphic Novel of the Year for Boss of the Underworld earlier this week! 🎉).

It has been a joy to work with Tor and we’re so pleased that the Booksellers Association and indie booksellers around the country love Pomona as much as we do. Designed beautifully by our very own @nesswood_design_books - and check out an Orange Beak online event with Tor on 6th October.

I‘m working on a board book all about eggs right now and the amazing thing is - we just got chickens!!!! So lots of awesome reference pictures and chicken time for me! The book also has a platypus in it….
.
But I felt pretty stuck with the artwork for the book, so had a tutorial with @maisieparadise from @orangebeakstudio and her advice was so helpful in leading me back to what I like about my pictures and how to make the whole dummy book better. So highly recommend, if you are feeling stuck! (not sponsored)
