Another year has passed, distancing me further from the year when I was just 17.
It feels as though time slips through our fingers – like sand in an open palm, slipping away when we try to hold onto it.

This thought once again urged me to pause and reflect. Sometimes, it can feel like not much has happened – „I didn't achieve this“, „ I couldn't do that“, once again, again, and over and over again.

But when we truly sit down to reflect – going through the year month by month, week by week, consciously realising all that has transpired – the experiences, accomplishments, encounters with people, the challenges we faced, skills we acquired, moments of laughter and tears... It turns out, A LOT has happened.❤️

If you look closely, you're surely not the same person you were a year ago. In fact, you're not even the same person you were yesterday – we change with each passing day, with everything we experience. And within that lies an incredibly huge potential.

Given the positive feedback received from the Advent calendar with the self-reflection questions, I was inspired to create a workbook for the turn of the year, diving even deeper into the subject.
It's designed for you to uncover more about yourself, reflect on the past year, bid farewell to things that weigh you down while inviting new experiences into your life– all to begin the new year with renewed energy, focus and space for all that is to come.

I've been wanting to write this self-reflection workbook for a while now, but somehow, I kept avoiding the process and all the tasks surrounding it. Then, one evening (just lately!) I thought, 'Seriously? What are you waiting for? Why not just start right now – before another year is over again?!'
So I finally sat down and I have been dedicating long hours each day to creating this workbook for you (and I’m still in the process!). I genuinely hope to release it in time for the New Year and just wanted to give you a heads-up that something exciting is in the works... 🌟

Have you ever considered making a list of what truly fuels your energy and what drains it?
Think of it as a power inventory—let's call it an Energy Taker vs. Energy Giver list. 🔋📝

Picture two columns, one highlighting what uplifts you (+) and the other, what weighs you down (-).

For example on my Energy Giver list, I include activities such as learning something new, spending quality time with supportive friends, practising yoga, listening to an uplifting podcast or simply taking a stroll outside.
These things always (!) brighten my day and fill my tank with good vibes and positive energy. 🤩

On the flip side, my Energy Taker list comprises things like overindulging in screen time, dwelling on negativity, engaging with people who constantly bring drama into my life or consuming sugary foods. These habits drain my energy and hinder my personal growth. 😵‍💫

The key lies in recognising these aspects. Understanding what uplifts our spirit and what depletes it can be so very transformative. And it's crucial to emphasise that it's not solely about our actions but also about the company we keep.
Yes, that encompasses the relationships we cultivate and the individuals we surround ourselves with. Being mindful of our social circle significantly impacts our energy levels, too! 🫂

So, here's a challenge for you:
Take a moment today to start drafting your own Energy Taker vs. Energy Giver list and reflect on it.
Then you might even consider making (small) adjustments to your routine or social circles to optimise your energy.

Comprehending our energy sources and drains enables us to consciously gravitate towards activities and elements that uplift us.
Let's take charge of our energy levels and live a life that's even brighter than before.

Your energy is your power—own it. 🌟

Are there any Energy Takers or Energy Givers that instantly come to your mind right now?
Please let me know in the comments below! ❤️
Feel free to also save and share this reel - thank you for your support! 😊

A fixed mindset is rooted in the belief that abilities and talents are static traits; this mindset tends to perceive qualities as unchangeable. It might avoid challenges, avoid feedback, and view failures as reflections of inherent limitations.
Statements like "This is just not something I'm good at" or "I'll never be able to do that" represent this perspective. 😶

Conversely, a growth mindset thrives on the notion that abilities can be cultivated and developed through dedication and effort. Embracing challenges as opportunities for growth, relishing in the process of learning, and persisting in the face of setbacks are characteristics of this mindset. It views failures as stepping stones towards improvement and believes in the power of "not yet" rather than "I can't."
Statements such as "I can learn from this" or "I'll improve with practice" represent the essence of a growth mindset. 😊

The crucial distinction lies in the belief system: a fixed mindset tends to cap potential, while a growth mindset fuels a continuous journey of improvement and accomplishment.

Remember, your mindset isn't just a perspective; it's the lens through which you perceive your potential. 🥸 Understanding the difference between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset offers a roadmap—a chance to choose the lens through which you view your abilities and challenges.
By embracing the principles of a growth mindset, you're not just adopting a new way of thinking; you're empowering yourself to unlock possibilities, embrace change, and cultivate resilience.
This knowledge isn't just information; it's a tool that equips you to approach life's obstacles with a renewed sense of determination and an unwavering belief in your capacity for growth.

Let's be honest - would you say you lean more towards a fixed mindset or a growth mindset, and how has your mindset evolved over the years? 🧠
Is there anything that could be improved?

Feel welcome to save this post to come back to it later! 😊

In fact, no form of self-care is egoistic neither is it selfish! ❤️

Instead, self-care is a fundamental necessity for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
It's about recognising and meeting our own needs, nurturing ourselves, and fostering a sense of well-being.

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that in our society, there's often a learned perception that taking care of oneself is selfish.
I vividly recall an instance during my school years when I only received an 'unsatisfactory' grade in social behaviour.
Why? Because according to my teachers, I focused too much on myself rather than on others. I dared to say 'no' and celebrated my solitude by working on my own in the other corner of the room, rather than constantly engaging within a group.

Do you view that as selfish?

Looking back, I'm proud of myself for prioritising my needs, despite the (back then) hurtful grade I received. All these acts of self-care have shaped me into the empathetic and open-minded individual I am today. 🙃

I believe as a collective, we need to move away from the misconception that someone who stands up for themselves or occasionally declines to help others because they lack energy, strength, or inclination at that very moment is in any way selfish.
Rather – for me - such actions are indicative of strength and bravery.

We don’t need to conform to others‘ expectations if they don’t align with our well-being or ignite a fire within us, wasting our precious time.
It's essential to understand that self-care isn't about neglecting others but about creating a balance that allows us to be present, compassionate, and authentic. Each one of us has a unique way of recharging and finding balance.
By embracing self-care, we're better equipped to navigate life's challenges, establishing a foundation to support others more effectively.

After all, you cannot pour from an empty cup, can you?! ☕️

What do you consider as self-care? ❤️

The path to growth and a brighter tomorrow begins with the courage to embrace change. 🙃

I know that holding onto what's familiar can be comfortable. But to achieve progress, to improve situations, to learn and to grow, you must initiate change.

This can involve significant leaps—like moving to a new place, changing jobs, parting ways with a partner, or embarking on an adventurous journey.
Yet, it primarily starts with little steps - like adjusting your diet, adopting beneficial habits, maintaining regular sleep patterns, incorporating exercise into your daily routine, maybe trying meditation, reaching out to someone you've always wanted to connect with, introspection, addressing your childhood experiences, becoming aware of your visions or whatever this might mean for you.

It is the world outside your comfort zone where the magic happens. ✨️🌱

“If nothing changes, nothing changes.
If you keep doing what you're doing, you're going to keep getting what you're getting.
You want change, make some.”

There's no need to compare yourself to others - you are on YOUR unique path.🚶🏼‍♀️🚶🏻‍♂️
Even if it may feel like you're walking in circles or even backwards at times, have trust — with every single step in life, you are progressing, learning, growing, evolving. 🌱

Whether you move rather swiftly or at a slower pace, it's okay - it doesn't matter.

This is your path, your rhythm, your pace. ❤️

It's crucial to remember that taking even small steps forward is of great importance.
Sometimes, the most daunting part of any adventure is simply that first step. Whether you're embarking on a new career, pursuing a personal goal, or seeking personal growth, the act of starting, no matter how small, ignites the spark of progress.

But here's the real beauty of it all: it's not just about reaching the destination; it's about the path you take along the way. Every step, no matter how small, contributes to your growth and experience. It's the journey itself that shapes you, teaches you, and reveals the most about who you are – because it’s not only about the destination but the incredible adventure you’ll experience along the way.

I know you’ve got this! ❤️🙃
