Wednesdays are for @originbreads pizza! I get their rossa pizza (vegan as is), usually adding olives and mushrooms. You can dine in @giantjonesbrewing or pick it up to go. Besides their amazing pizza, I’m a huge fan of their bagels and breads, which I pick up at the @danecofm each Saturday. I love that they use 100% organic, local grains for their sourdough baked goods. #madcityvegan #veganpizza #sourdough #eatlocal #madisonvegan

It’s Market Day! Join us from 4PM–7 PM at McPike Park for fresh seasonal produce, delicious locally made food, a drum performance by Beni Daiko, and opportunities to connect with your neighbors. This week has been a difficult one for our community. We know many people are looking for places to gather, reflect, and support one another. We are fortunate that our market is about more than shopping. It’s a space where neighbors come together, relationships are built, and local businesses are supported. This evening (through Friday), Freedom, Inc. will also be hosting a Power to the People pop-up, building political education around community control over police and why our communities deserve real power, not just promises. Stop by the Freedom Inc tent on Willy st. to learn more, ask questions, connect with organizers, and take action alongside your neighbors. We hope you’ll join us this evening to support local farmers and small businesses, spend time with your neighbors, and be part of a community that continues to show up for one another! As always, we’ll have ice water and space to sit by the information tent. 💓 always, Allison & Katie

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Dane County Farmers’ Market buyout! We were able to purchase a little over $500 worth of food and flowers and donate it all to the vigil! The additional funds that are leftover (~$100) will be donated directly to the vigil’s food table by the end of the day! Thank you to @wi.bopm and @community.pharmacy and our private donors for donating funds to help support the buyout, it was great to see community come together on such short notice! ❤️❤️❤️

Did you know that variety may be just as important as vegetables themselves? Research from the American Gut Project found that people who eat 30 or more different plant foods each week tend to have a more diverse gut microbiome—a key marker associated with overall health. Every unique plant you eat (beans, herbs, whole grains, nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables) counts as a plant point, and each one helps nourish different beneficial microbes. Our Green Goddess Pesto Beans with Origin Bread delivers 9 plant points in one delicious meal, thanks to a vibrant blend of creamy beans, fresh herbs, garlic, lemon, olive oil, nuts, whole grains, and a variety of leafy greens. It’s a simple way to support your gut while enjoying a comforting, nutrient-dense meal. For postpartum mothers, a thriving microbiome can help support recovery, digestion, immune function, and overall well-being—one nourishing bite at a time. 🌿

June is the time to get that green 🥬 With a @steadfastacres CSA box full of beautiful lettuces and some cucumbers from my work share shift, we decided to make a Chicken Caesar Salad for dinner last night. Spicy seasoned chicken thighs on the grill after the storm had passed with the addition of @originbreads garlicky lemon breadcrumbs, shaved @uplandscheese Pleasant Ridge Reserve, and a homemade dressing all served up in a @wilsoncreekpottery bowl. Damn. I'll be honest; I'm just coming back to myself in the kitchen. The inspiration hit with the produce and we went from there. Feels great to be back at it even in a small way. And a friendly reminder: do not let anyone convince you that a great meal has to be complicated or technical. The best food is often the most simple. Quality ingredients, a little bit of time, and a shit ton of garlic.
