POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Just over two weeks until @osschoir come together to greet the past through song and ritual on the eve of Samhain. I hadn’t sung properly for 13 years when I joined Oss. Life made it less of a priority at first, but eventually in came the creeping feeling of not being good enough save for a drunken karaoke session or a hum in the shower. Then Mum died. When my body was aching with grief, singing was the only thing that felt like a release. It’s since been the thing I return to when I need to feel or to connect with her. Words alone have rarely adequately touched how grief lives in me, but song knows. I’ve been consumed by collecting folk songs about death since I started reconnecting with my voice. Seeing words written by someone long gone so perfectly articulate a feeling that lives so presently in you is the most powerful feeling. To be putting together a show that works through grief and connecting with these songs feels like such a full circle moment. Doing it alongside @dominiehoopermusic and her beautiful arrangements and a gang of people that fill me with joy every week is a privilege. Come along and see for yourself, link in my bio for tickets 🍂
