Finally got the boat back in the water and had an awesome morning fishing chinook salmon.
Got into plenty of wild but only one hatchery chinook to the cooler.

Hunting oyster with Chef Anthony and @otbcharters. We found the craziest oyster bed ever! We were doing some recon ahead of our EatWild by the Sea workshop. We are excited to share the richness of our coastal way of life. You are invited on a shellfish foraging and culinary adventure. You will learn how to find, catch, process, and cook shellfish. We will teach you to process and store the catch safely and properly. And most importantly, you will learn cooking techniques and enjoy a special meal together.

We are partnering with @otbcharters and the chef team from @laquerciakitchen La Quercia Kitchen who have recently opened up a restaurant at the Secret Cove Marina on the Sunshine Coast. The chef team will be leading a “how to“ demonstration for seafood preparation, and they will be offering us a private chef experience to enjoy the bounty that the coast life offers with an Italian-inspired seafood dinner @la_bettolina_secretcove. This will be a luxurious experience. I guarantee it.

Join us on April 8th. This is an all day adventure with dinner included. Only 8 spots for this one so don’t miss out.

We are meeting up at the @secretcovemarina at 11 am and we should wrap up dinner at 7 pm ish. You can day trip from Vancouver or better yet, enjoy a weekend on the coast and stay with our friends at @rockwatersecretcoveresort.

Mid-week musings

Yesterday morning I found out it was yet another year without a Dall draw for me.

That had me bummed for about a second, at which time I remembered how fortunate I am to be a resident of British Columbia where my opportunity to hunt is unmatched.

Go for a tour of this floating marble and look into it if you don't believe me, there's not really much for comparison even.

So for now, I'll turn my focus to further Limited Entry Hunting draws when they come out in a couple of months, and if/when unsuccessful there, I'll look towards some over the counter trips.

Not too bad 2023.

But how much longer will that last?

I don't take it for granted that I have these opportunities because I have met many folks from all over the world who don't, but who share the same love of the wild that holds power over me.

I have seen the truth in their eyes while hearing the words pour from their mouths about how lucky we are in BC to be able to do what we are currently able to do.

That's powerful stuff and while it seems obvious that what we have here is worth fighting for, it doesn't seem like nearly enough of us are aware of it, or care about it.

But I am and I do, and I get a little bit better at it every day, which leads to further inspiration and desire to do more.

It's a viciously awesome cycle to get mixed into which is made even better by the tribe that you inevitably get surrounded by.

I highly recommend it to everyone.
