House Flavour: Batch 057

September walked in without knocking.

Before 89 went up on the wall Friday morning and the whole room changed temperature. Not the kind of cold that makes you reach for a jacket. The kind that makes you put your espresso down and actually look at something properly. The question it kept raising wasn't about 1989. It was about whether the decisions being made in this room right now will look that inevitable in thirty years.

Whether the work has that kind of bone structure underneath it.

That's the conversation that follows you from the counter to the desk to the kitchen and back again. The one that makes the second coffee go cold because nobody wants to be the one who moves first.

The house has always believed that the rooms where the best work gets made are never fully comfortable. There's always something on the wall that doesn't quite fit, something on the floor that hasn't found its place yet and a conversation that got left half-finished because someone had to leave but the idea stayed. This batch has that quality. The eyes watching from blue. The brief reduced to its skeleton. A woman underwater finding stillness in the most resistive environment available.

Things that settled into the house this week and immediately started rearranging the furniture.

What September does to a creative space is clarify the stakes. Summer lets you think about possibility. September asks what you actually did with it. The pile this week feels like that reckoning. Not harsh, just honest.

The light through the window is different and the work has to meet it. Let’s create.

Every piece of creative we've featured has its own story. We credit where we know it. If we've missed the creator and you know the origins, please DM or tag in the comments. We want the most original flavour in the house daily.

Fitness is big business. Wellness already makes up over 6% of global GDP and it's predicted to reach 7% by 2029.

Every consumer category is getting a sprinkling of sport. In this piece for Tomorrow's Tomorrow, @beyond.strategy explores why.

Live on Substack now, link in Bio.

"...Skims sponsored Team USA in the Olympics. Maybelline New York now sponsors the New York Marathon. Tiffany & Co backs the all-women’s racing series Athlos, where winners get a crown instead of a medal. No matter the category, brands or businesses that have nothing to do with fitness are seeking to align themselves with the sector..."

At @beyond.strategy and @salty_global, we’ve spent an unreasonable amount of time sweating in the name of research.

We run unfamiliar streets. We try the new class before it becomes cult, as well as the OG ones. We hit up the gyms, recovery spots, and the places reportedly worth crossing town for—to suss out the ones that aren’t.

Fitness is part of how we travel. It’s also how we understand and enjoy a city. So we teamed up to make a guide.

WHERE TO SWEAT, RUN & RECOVER is a tried, tested and vetted map of the places we actually think are worth going to.

It’s built from Beyond’s fieldwork, Salty’s obsession with global sweat culture, and recommendations from the people who know these cities best.

To kick us off: London, Los Angeles and Shanghai.

Save this for later.

@beyond.strategy by @ottostudio

Studio Beyond is a London and LA-based consultancy delivering insights, strategy, and leadership for global brands including Netflix, Paul Smith, Nike, and The National Gallery. The challenge was to refine its identity to better express clarity and conviction within an increasingly complex and noisy landscape.

The refreshed identity reimagines core elements such as iconography, typography, image treatments, and motion. Each component reflects the studio’s integrated process and analytical depth, creating a cohesive and flexible system. The result is a sharper, more confident visual language that positions Studio Beyond with clarity and purpose across all touchpoints.

"Decathlon—the IKEA of sports—is not exactly aspirational. But its integrity, its originality and apathy for being "cool" are persuasive when most brands today chase relevance."

Decathlon is getting more airtime in our insight projects than ever before. This Tomorrow's Tomorrow piece explores why — and what the future could hold for one of our favourite brands.
