Hiking Gothic Basin on the Mountain Loop Highway

I’ll be honest: I attempted this hike TWICE before I actually made it to Foggy Lake this year.

The first time I tried this hike almost three years ago, my partner and I were on our way to the top when they were hit with a stomach bug. Let me tell ya, puking on the Gothic Basin switchbacks is NOT fun... neither is driving home from Gothic Basin with a puking passenger.

The second time I tried this hike with my friend, Bianca, we made it about three miles in before both agreeing we’d rather go swimming in the river. So we turned around and headed out.

The third time I hiked this trail with my friend, Briana, we made it to the top. It was tough, but rewarding. I actually think this trail has an incredible challenge-to-payoff ratio.

This is a 100 Classic Hike of Washington, and as I have hiked each one, I assess it. You can take the teacher into the wilderness, but they will still be a teacher...

When I decide (for myself) whether a trail is worthy of the “100 Classic” label, I think about the location, the uniqueness, the difficulty-to-payoff rating, and trail conditions.

This trail gets my stamp of approval! I loved it and I cannot wait to do it again.

Noah Kahan Seattle N1 🌕🧑‍🚀

We had such a blast at the concert last night! We got upgraded to floor seats and had such a good view and even got a setlist at the end!

Very proud of my DIY bleach dye shirt too!

Ladies River Trip is COMPLETE!

Over the last three days, the ladies hit the Deschutes River with @raftdra , aka Deschutes River Adventures.

We had two incredible lady guides, Lauren and Nichola. Our fear-minimal leaders paved the way of trying something new with the proper safety supports. They stoked the vibes and brought inspiration.

This group trip was just under a year in the making and it was the perfect way to say “goodbye” to summer.

There were some new faces on the trip and some returning which created the space for people to get to know each other quickly.

Some toenails were broken and some bruises were formed but just as the river taketh, the river giveth. It gave us the opportunity to try something new, build connections, and carry our experience into everyday life.

Can’t wait for the next ladies trip!
