A public screening shows the World Cup final not as it happened, but as a screen has already processed it. For @oy.photo, photographing that screen again during Spain-Argentina, with a deliberately fast shutter speed and multiple exposures, produces images that barely relate to the actual match anymore. The distortion isn’t a flaw; it’s the subject.

In his vision, forcing a media apparatus to reveal itself, has a direct parallel in how AI systems now handle images. The system no longer shows what was; it shows the most likely guess at what was. Unlike the photographs in this series, that gap is usually smoothed over and made invisible. The same shift extends beyond single images to how people encounter events at all.

Read this way, the series’ visible glitches function as an analogue counterpart to AI hallucination, says O-Young Kwon: both arise when a system reconstructs a plausible image from incomplete data. The difference is visibility.
