Wherever we go, communities will spring up from the ground and blossom ✨

Queer communities form themselves around just about anything. Whether it's weightlifting, zine-making, our own pageant or an all-lesbian ranch getaway, the queers will find one another and gather around. Nothing can stop us from coming together, and that comes with incomparable power, glamour and fun! 🏋️🎨🕺💃

Bring your friends and enjoy some wholesome DIY community vibes at this shorts programme Common Ground 🫶

✨WHAT'S GOOD AT KLZETC 2026✨

【Screening】

Unbound Zine: Xiaomei going overseas
不可装订：小美要出海

A surreal and kitschy drag performance mixed with lip-sync style interviews based upon stories of East and Southeast Asian self-publishing underground heroes. Watch her. She is Xiaomei (Little Beauty). Call me Xiaomei. We are Unbound Zine.

Small. Fragile. Fleeting. No ISBNs — that’s how they escape the systems that cage stories. In Asia, queer and women’s zines exist like nowhere else. Their formats dance between extremes — tiny pocket booklets that whisper secrets, oversized sheets that demand attention; bindings improvised with thread and hope, stitched by hand, or left brazenly unbound; materials experimental and alive. They inherit the lineage of woodblock prints and folk art, transforming traditional craft into radical publishing that burns bright.

Directed by: Oyester (London/Beijing)

Language: English and Mandarin

Date: Aug 7 (Friday)

Time: 2:00 - 3:00 pm

Venue: Kong Choi Exh. Room, KLSCAH

4A CHAMPION // We’re honoured to celebrate Funa Ye 叶甫纳as our next 4A Champion as part of 4A’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Funa Ye 叶甫纳 (@oyester) is a Chinese artist, whose practice is concerned with the relationship between the realities of everyday life. She is interested in the perceived connection between authority and many areas of social life. Her work plays on different power structures, ethnic groups and the fictional space of propaganda to explore the concept of ‘perfection’ in an ideological system and utopian landscape. Her work is politically charged, subtly engaged in pastiche as a satirising style of propaganda.

Funa first exhibited with 4A in ‘TRANSFORM.ME 易装·癖’ (2024), a transformative exhibition that reimagined the gallery as a cyber-grunge salon, paying homage to China’s SMART (Sha-ma-te) subculture and its evolution from rural communities to contemporary urban youth culture. In September 2025, she returned as part of ‘Infinite Scroll 荧屏沉溺’, a group exhibition curated by 4A at the Chau Chak Wing Museum, which reflected on digital acceleration and the tensions between speed, consumption and meaning in online environments.

The 4A Champion Circle brings together artists, alumni and supporters who have helped shape 4A over the past three decades.

We‘re proud to celebrate Funa Ye 叶甫纳 as part of the 4A Champion Circle.

🌀 FINAL WEEK // Infinite Scroll 荧屏沉溺

Only one week left to experience ‘Infinite Scroll 荧屏沉溺’ at Chau Chak Wing Museum (@ccwm_sydney).

Curated by Thea-Mai Baumann (@metaverse), CEO of 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, the exhibition brings together works by Xia Han (@xiaaahan), Gao Hang (@gaohangart) and Ye Funa (@oyester).

Using humour, interactivity and digital media, the artists examine the politics of online life. From AI-generated avatars to game-inspired worlds, their works parody and remix online cultures, exploring how digital platforms shape the way we see, think and interact.

Visit before it closes and experience Infinite Scroll for yourself.
