Finishing clips for the @surreycycleracingleague masters road race this weekend hosted by @sussexrevolution down in Ditchling.

Full context : I had a slow puncture for the final 50km on my front tyre and my handlebars had been knocked out of position after hitting a pothole so I knew I was going to struggle to sprint however I train too long and hard to miss out on chances like this and was determined to hit my target of a podium one way or another.

First road race done and dusted. 50 years old and still getting uncomfortable 😬

Is #throwbackthursday still a thing?

Whilst digging through some old photos and videos for a project upcoming…

I came across these of a race with good pal @pablo_burt at Hillingdon back in 2019.

It was the funnest circuit race I’ve done.

Pablo and I had ridden out together, decided upon a plan we thought would be great to try and was one of those days where it came together perfectly.

Pablo attacked from the gun with @tiagoxavierfougo, I bridged over soon after and we rode three up for the whole race, holding off the bunch.

We then took it in turns to attack our break companion until I was the lucky one that managed to get away for a few solo glory laps 😅

I set an all time 1hr power PB that day.

(A trend that seems to be quite common for people following Pablo 🐍)

Both our hamstrings cramped up so hard after the race we could hardly ride home 😂

(Don’t forget your warm downs…).

Learnt a huge amount that year, made some great memories and great friends.

❤️ cycling.
