It's been a month since the 2026 Bellinghan Off Road Triathon so a big THANK YOU is an order to all the racers, volunteers, @travelingdarren & @regina_nicolardi for the photos, and spectators for making it a success!

Look for registration for the 2027 "BORT" to open in the spring. Until then, happy training!

4 months ago I was nearly killed by a car in an intersection. 3 months ago I was barely walking with aids. 2 months ago I rode my bike for the first time outside. One month ago I started to do hill climbs again.

If at any point during that timeframe someone told me that TODAY I would finish overall female @mtbakerhillclimb, I would've laughed in their face. 😅 Not only did this come true, but I bestest my own time by over 2min! 🤯 My goal for the past 2 years has been to break 1:30 and today I finished in 1:27:52.

My newest audio book listen is "Don't Call It A Comeback" by elite runner @keiradamato . Her book is *not* about coming back and winning races (although that's what she did 😅). It's about doing the best with what we can, when we can, and finding new, smaller wins in every gain. I wrote down quotes from this book and played them in my head throughout the race today: "Think about your 'why', then use it as your driving force." And, big one, "The longer you can hold the pain, the bigger the reward on the other side."

I knew today would be uncomfortable, in a good way. The weather was shitty. The lead Peloton of pro men was gone from the start. We had a choice to either settled back or push our asses forward. My little chase group of 8 turned 4 turned 2. We never got caught by another Peloton. We never gave up. We got the work done. 💪

Never did I ever think I'd be adding a trophy to my bookshelf 4 months after breaking all my bones. 🥹❤️

Hamster Endurance Runs 2026!! @gretchen_walla has led the charge for 10 years and is going out with a bang! Biggest field ever and handing off to the amazing @leasha24

As we prep, shop, and pack for Walla Trails & Community's last Hamster Endurance Runs, it's very important to pause and recognize the partners and local businesses who support Hamster. From donations to marketing to small business pricing to cheerleading, etc. this loopy race receives a lot of love. A huge thank you to:

@fairhavenrunners for their donations, support, cheerleading from both the store's owners and staff. This includes All Paces leaders Andy, our pizza delivery/night time aid volunteer, and Angela, a 32 hour participant who will have a next level energy crew ( 📷 1!)

@pacificmultisports for not only providing timing/results to runners but for also excellent customer service for 32+ hours over the weekend

@primebellingham for being onsite mid-weekend to help runners with foot care, troubleshooting aches and pains, NormaTec boots, and more

@bellinghamexperience for helping get the word out about Hamster and supplying guides to those new to the city

@skratchlabs // @lynn.mc_ for supplying Hamster runners with plenty of electrolytes... and so easy to work with

Before my DNS at Oliver, I wrote that my goal was to stand at the end of the day knowing I had raced my race, at my pace, done the best I could, and not given up on myself. Last weekend at Lake Whatcom Olympic Tri, I finally got that chance.

Huge kudos to Marc Blake, Pacific Multisports, and the incredible team of volunteers. If you raced, I hope you thanked as many of them as you could. And Brent Detta, you absolutely crushed it announcing—I hope you're back again next year!

Right before the swim, I almost threw up my breakfast and my wetsuit felt like it was trying to strangle me. The wind had picked up, the water was choppy, and the side current made it really challenging. For the first time in a long time, I questioned whether I could finish.

The bike felt easier than it has in previous years, and I genuinely enjoyed it. The wind wasn't too bad except for a few gusts that tried to knock me over. It rained for part of the ride, so I took the steep descents a little more cautiously. Then, with about five miles to go, the car ahead of me stopped to let a deer cross and I had to stop, but honestly, it was a pretty cool first.

I started the run assuming I'd have to walk right away—mostly out of habit—but then realized I actually felt ok, so I ran.

I made it 1.6 miles before my first walk break. That's a big milestone for me! Around mile 2.5, I briefly convinced myself that I hated running and should just do aquabikes from now on. 😂 Thankfully, that feeling passed, and I settled into a run/walk rhythm for the rest of the course.

Then came the stairs. Every year, standing at the bottom, they look impossible. This year I made it up the stairs faster than I had the past two years. Thank you Coach Wendy @t2coaching for making me do those step ups and for your unwavering belief in me!

After that, there was nothing left to do but finish. Seeing my husband throughout and especially at the finish line made the day even more special. ❤️

Lake Whatcom 2026 is officially in the books!
