|Het contrast tussen een onzichtbare strijd & een zichtbare kracht. Een lichaam dat niet voldoet aan de verwachting van herstel. Een lichaam dat niet geneest, maar wel blijft volhouden.

Chronische aandoeningen zijn een realiteit waar men nog te vaak aan voorbijgaat.

Altijd gevangen in het licht van aandacht, altijd onderworpen aan een oordelende blik.

We leven in een maatschappij waarin velen zichzelf lijken te hebben omgeschoold tot dokter, maar zich niet kunnen verplaatsen in de schoenen van een patiënt. Betweters op elke hoek, oordeel na oordeel.

Alsof pijn pas echt bestaat wanneer ze zichtbaar wordt. Alsof een glimlach het bewijs moet zijn dat het wel meevalt. Maar niet elke wonde bloedt aan de buitenkant, & niet elke strijd vraagt om gezien te worden om echt te zijn.

Chronisch ziek zijn is niet alleen leven met pijn, het is leven met ongeloof, met uitleg, met het voortdurend moeten bewijzen dat je lijden bestaat. En toch blijven velen elke dag opnieuw rechtstaan, niet omdat het gemakkelijk is, maar omdat opgeven nooit een keuze was.|

Day 7 - Sharing Resources

Today involved trying to unscramble some more of this medical mystery and finally getting some fresh air. I can’t walk to the ducks anymore and that really hit me how much my body is struggling.

Community is once again pulling through! I’ve been looking for a lying down workspace and @pacingpixie videos have been incredible to help me start! I also asked for some guidance for good specialists and appreciate more than anything the messages of recommendations or sharing similar journeys which don’t make me feel so alone!

Recommendations include:
- Dr Hanadi Kazkaz (London)
- Dr. V. Saravanan (North East)

Just a note, I haven’t seen either but they have both had numerous recommendations in my inboxes.

Unfortunately Covid never ended. What made you think it did? At what point did you go from "we're in a pandemic" to "it's over now"? Who told you it was over and is that authority usually very honest and trustworthy with other things they say?

Have the rich and powerful ever lied about other things that were dangerous to people's health so they could keep everyone working, not worrying about it, and making them money?

You don't have to abandon the Disabled and immunocompromised, the elderly and children. You don't have to abandon yourself. No matter how young and/or able-bodied you are, or think you are, repeat Covid infections are proven to do severe cumulative damage to the body with every single infection.

Your chance of developing Long Covid is between 10% and 30% per infection. The chance goes up with each reinfection. Long Covid can be severely disabling and even deadly. It drastically reduces your freedom and quality of life. In the worst cases it can leave you completely bed-bound in horrible pain, unable to even tolerate light and sound, unable even to bathe or watch TV and read.

Remember with HIV we didn't know how bad it would be in the long run until 10 years into that pandemic. We're only at 7 years of the Covid pandemic and already hundreds of millions of people have died or become newly Disabled.

We don't need to repeat the horrible mistakes of the past. We are failing a whole generation of people and that's not okay. Wear a mask, clean the air, resist fascism and eugenics. ✊🏻😷❤️

What a brilliant day in Brighton!☀️

From the beach to the Lanes, we had such a fun time exploring, adding new accessible places to the Sociability app, and seeing how it works all around the city. Vibes were high and the energy was amazing, reminding us exactly why we love hosting these community days!
