Last month we got to meet @packthebus in person at @thecvvc campout in Eleva, WI 🎉The stars aligned, they were in the area and able to join us! Hannah & Hunter got Luna about the same time I found Ruby and I’ve watched their VW journey over the years via instagram. September moments 📸✨

1) spent the first half of the month in Ontario, Canada camping along the north shore of Lake Superior

2) we drove ~1,400 through Canada along hwy 17 with some unreal lake views

3)Visited Bruce Peninsula NP after taking our VW on a 2 hour ferry across part of Lake Huron

4)”The Grotto” at Bruce Peninsula; these water colors were so wild

5)Niagara Falls!

6) So glad we did the Niagara Falls boat tour; SO much fun

7) Enjoyed Canadian lake life while visiting family 💛

8) Crossed over into NY in the Thousand Island region

9) Broke down, we were stuck on the side of the road for 24 hours but thankfully had what we needed to fix the issue!

10) Made it to Acadia National Park! Our 37th US NP. Finally in Maine

11) Hiking up to Cadillac Summit/ enjoying some local blueberry sours 🫐

12) Bass Harbor Head Light Station at sunset 🌅

13) Evening paddles out in on Moosehead Lake

14) Finally seeing the fall colors arrive 🍂🍁💛

This is how much we spend in a month on the road in our VW Bus! 💸 Now that we are on our 3rd year of full time vanlife, it was about time we tracked our finances in an organized way. @piereapp has been a perfect tool to give us financial insights based on what is most important to us, so we can focus on doing more of what we love as we travel the country!

While this lifestyle allows us to cut costs on bills we used to pay such as rent payments, creating a personalized budget helps us keep track of our monthly travel expenses and better plan our upcoming adventures. We’ve never before shared an average month of finances, but looking back at the past month as we explored the East Coast and Appalachian mountains we spent: $2,165!

It’s important to note that every month for us looks a bit different, whether that be due to the number of miles traveled, the availability of free vs paid camping, or due to a trouble-free maintenance month vs an engine rebuild! No matter what kind of month it is, tracking our expenses and budgeting helps us stay prepared and organized as we continue to enjoy our life of full time travel responsibly.

One month until we head to Bonnaroo to dance to our favorite music live 🎶

While this year has been full of firsts as we travel the eastern half of the USA, we couldn’t be more excited to add camping at a music festival for the first time to that list! A month from now, June 13-16, we will be cruising our VW bus over to Tennessee to see so many of our favorite artists at @bonnaroo!

Certain songs and favorite musical artists have become intertwined with the memories we have made out on the road. The experience of destinations paired with the music that played through our stereo as we drove roads for the first time. These tracks forever have the ability to transport us back into those magical moments, and remind us what it felt like to be absolutely in awe of nature. This particular song happens to be what we had playing when we drove the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park, and it is what we always think of when we hear it 💛

So many bands and artists on this lineup have been a huge part of the soundtrack to our travels, and so many have created music that has inspired us along the way. A few of the many we couldn’t be more excited to see are: Gregory Alan Isakov, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Maggie Rogers, Ocie Elliot, Lizzie McApline, Post Malone and many many more 🎶

This is a moment made possible by love ❤️

After all, it takes a whole lotta love to keep an old VW bus on the road. It takes days of careful wrenching and painstaking troubleshooting, evenings poring through your crumbling car manual, moments of terror after you’ve installed a part and you’re sitting there thinking “did I even do this right?”

And, even after all that devotion, you still may have to weather the inevitable breakdown on the side of the road.

And so we gather like this, in bands every once in awhile, because we love these cars and the lifestyle they bring. We circle on ridges to celebrate our love for VW buses and the wonderful people who drive them ✨

A cozy movie night in the woods 🎥🎄✨

December to us means creating holiday cheer and spending some time with the family we don’t get to see often through our travels. This week, we brought my sister on her first ever camping trip along with Hunters favorite furry niece and watched a holiday favorite up in the mountains.

Nights like these always create such lasting memories, and to share that with family made it that much more special. These moments are worth the set up, as we sip our cocoa surrounded by dazzling lights and enjoy a film together in a place we won’t forget.

When we have our outdoor movie nights on the road, our @pixxieprojector has always been the perfect travel sized projector with amazing quality. To be able to stream this movie directly through our Pixxie made setting up easy, giving us more time to put up some holiday decor, making the night that much more festive and fun ✨❤️💚

We can’t wait to head into 2024 and travel the country, with more movie nights in our future wherever we go 💛

A salmon dinner with a view ✨⛰️

There is nothing more special to us out on the road than sharing a nice meal together. It creates the feeling of being at home together, wherever we may be. A way to make a beautiful view even better, and a way to show love to one another in the process. While so much of our life has been downsized into this little VW, my love of cooking remains strong and the happiness it brings me will never disappear.

This summer night in Canada we shared a simple yet delicious dinner of salmon and asparagus as we camped surrounded by trees and stunning mountains. I don’t think cooking outside will ever lose its charm 💛
