“It’s not complicated at all - it’s actually quite simple.”

Few things in this life are black and white, but when they are, they are as perceived as complicated by those who refuse to understand or learn from others.

Master Certified Grief and Transformation Coach Olivia Abousaid offers a grounded, trauma-informed perspective on collective grief, the impact of global injustice, and how witnessing or living through atrocity shapes the way we carry our sorrow. This conversation is a call to honor grief not as a weakness, but as a powerful force for change and solidarity.

Olivia Abousaid @pact_coaching joined me for a profound conversation about the complexities of grief, particularly in the context of community, chronic illness, and cultural influences. We explored personal experiences of grief, the importance of rituals, the role of anger, and the necessity of finding agency amidst ongoing loss. The discussion emphasizes the significance of community support, the power of letter writing as a tool for processing grief, and the balance between experiencing joy and sorrow. Ultimately, the episode serves as a reminder that grief is a shared human experience that requires connection, understanding, and compassion.

Our conversation traverses a wide landscape of types of losses and facets of grief - from the death of loved ones, witnessing and experiencing racism and genocide, dreams deferred and denied, and the grief over the limitations brought on by living with Lupus, a chronic illness. Lupus & Grief 🎙️ “I think for any lupus patient or anybody who is dealing with an autoimmune or chronic condition, there can be a lot of grief over ‘what are my limitations?’ ‘what can I do and not do?’ And it’s important to take time with it and not rush people through that process.”👇

Watch as lupus patient and Master Certified Grief Coach, Olivia Abousaid of @pact_coaching, chats with #YourStoryOurFight® Podcast host, @adamselk about her approach to coaching the newly diagnosed.

Oliva was diagnosed with discoid lupus and SLE in July of 2021. Since then, Olivia has cultivated a deep appreciation for personal growth and transformation while navigating the limitations of chronic illness.
