POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Full episode available on YouTube or wherever you listen to podcasts!

BTW, the artist of the mechanical bird is Bliss Kolb.

Alvina is back from vacation and Grace is finished with the first leg of her tour. They discuss the recent events involving Kelly Clarkson and the Brooklyn store Art of Play (the controversy has thankfully died down by now), and use the incident to discuss the concept of humility. They talk about whether humility is actually something that our culture values and if it’s something to strive for, and if it is, they discuss 15 ways to practice humility in your life.

Then, since Grace is in the midst of her tour for LITTLE STONE BUDDHA, Grace tells Alvina about the book, including its origins: it was inspired by the book THE LITTLE HOUSE by Virginia Lee Burton, as well as the real life Oakland Buddha. And they end as always with what they’re grateful for.

Want your 6–8-year-old to fall in LOVE with reading? It starts with finding the right books!❤️📚

‼️ Comment LINK and I’ll send you 100+ of my FAVORITE BOOKS FOR 1st and 2nd graders!

As a former school librarian and mom, I’ve seen what happens when a child discovers a book they genuinely love. Suddenly, reading doesn’t feel like something they have to do. It’s something they want to do!

The trick is finding books that match their interests AND where they are in their reading journey.

That’s why I’ve put together two reading lists filled with engaging read-alouds, early readers, transitional chapter books, graphic novels, and longer chapter books for kids who are ready for more.

Whether you’re helping a beginning reader build confidence, teaching a classroom full of different reading abilities, or searching for a book your child won’t want to put down, I hope these lists help you discover some new favorites!

📌 SAVE this for your next library visit and SHARE with a 1st or 2nd grade parent or teacher!
📚 FOLLOW @LIBRARYMOMBOOKS for more children’s book recommendations and reading lists!
