You can’t talk about AI without talking about access and impact.

Last week I had the honor of presenting at PS/Next where local leaders, educators, entrepreneurs and students had real convos about AI. My take away was we don’t have an AI problem. We have an education problem.

That’s why I built Real Talk AI. A three week virtual workshop. What AI actually is and where it came from. The ethics nobody wants to sit with, copyright, environmental impact, human cost. And then, how to actually use it safely and practically, on your own terms. No jargon, no gatekeeping.

Cohorts start July 10th and 11th. Three Fridays or three Saturdays, your choice. Learn in community.

Please believe there are scholarships available as well.

Congratulations to PSNExT for producing such a successful, informative, and thought-provoking conference—in the summer, no less, in Palm Springs!

Thank you for the invitation to give an Artist Spotlight presentation. It was an opportunity to offer a long-view perspective on the transformation of photography as an art form, share practical examples of AI as both a production and creative tool, and examine the risk of mistaking machine aesthetics and automated craft for authentic human creativity.

Special thanks to Cris Cichocki and THE ELEMENTAL for including my newest animation in Hybrid Worlds, presented on the large-scale video screens at the conference entrance. Lunar Threshold 360º rebuilds and expands my original photographic composition through CGI animation, incorporating a rotating lunar surface created with NASA mapping data.

It was also encouraging to hear presenters address the broader ethical and environmental concerns surrounding AI, including opposition to the proposed construction of a data center in the Coachella Valley.
