. last saturday brisbane formally bid farewell to one of its most beloved sons, david malouf… the past few months my sister @tiffany_l_johnson with her @paperboatpress_editions and i with my ceramics have been working with david’s niece Leah Phillips. Tiffany created the order of service for the brisbane and sydney memorials. and i some special gifts for leah, including some plates and quote tags adorned with david’s words. It was such an honour and privilege to spend time talking about david with leah and creating this for her and the memorial…. our dad went along on saturday as both an avid fan of david’s work and to also be there to represent us. it was by his accounts a lovely memorial. ‘i may grow old in brisbane, but i will never grow up’ 🤎

. my darling aunty rhonnda, my mums beloved sister, is no longer with us… i was reacquainted with this photo last week of these three incredible women (looking down at me as first born grandchild, daughter and niece) women who shaped my life, my beautiful mum on the left, oma, our matriarch and my fabulous aunty rhonn who was one of the biggest cheerleaders of my creative life, and life in general. there has been a collective sadness this past month or so as we sat with her, said goodbye to her, and now celebrate her… i have been holding my beautiful uncle roger her devoted husband and partner for nearly 60 years, and her kids : ben, @sardooley and @meganmas in my heart. our family will never be the same, but i hope somewhere these three are having a cuppa and know how much they were loved. x

GINGERBREAD biscuits are back! and this year we have 2 different designs. for the 5th year in a row we have engaged the amazing baking skills of zoe from @confetticakeco_ to create a special and delicious treat to adorn your christmas table, gift to friends and co workers, neighbours or teachers… as this year is also our 20th year of creating ornaments for your tree we asked zoe to do a very limited run of the special golden crown, numbers on these are very limited. the ‘best before’ this first drop is dec 29th… and we ship australia wide… they’ve just been listed online, the ‘joy’ biscuits come in singles, sets of three or six, while golden crown biscuit is sold individually. if you are local you are welcome to come in and buy instore, or mark pick up if ordering online. and just saying, they are as delicious as they look! link on profile page or look under SPECIAL EDITION christmas on our online store 🤍🤍

. our bubbles and baubles workshop was inside the gallery tonight… though snug it was lovely to be under the paper chains and amongst the twinkle lights… our beautiful collection of @cambridgeimprint paper wares of paper chains and banners like this merry christmas in the window are selling fast and i am so happy to see how beloved this enchanting work is…

. personalised ornament orders are CLOSING this SUNDAY… we have been inundated this year. and are chasing our tail keeping on top of all your orders (thank YOU) we must close these orders for online on sunday 23rd to make sure we get them all made coloured sorted and posted in time… our personalised collection including cats and dog bones, hearts star and angels as well as birds…. and also large stars and hearts… takes time and we need to allow for misspelling and breakages and then of course sorting hundreds of them and then packing them… we make sure every ornamnet is made with love and not just rushed through. letter by letter… your family and friend mementos are never just a product but more a privilege to make to mark your years, remember those lost, celebrate new people, or moments in your years…. we won’t be reopening the ordering on these until mid february next year after sundays finish… ♥️🎄♥️

WAYS TO KEEP WARM . today is the last day to see @nicolette__johnson glorious show here at the gallery. we are open 10am - 2pm it is such an honour and a privilege to have watched Nicolette’s career bloom, she is a dedicated and intelligent maker, always creating new movements, stories and sways in a clay body with her intuitive and thoughtful soul. one of the great joys and added bonus of having this gallery, that has its own model, not being a traditional gallery but still maintaining i hope the integrity and purpose of a bigger commercial gallery is the friendships formed through it simply being a place… a home… for the artists i show. connection and friendship when it’s honest and fair and true is so endearing and makes me personally feel my life’s work though scattered in many forms, a worthy vocation when i can raise up and celebrate such incredible talent like nicolette. my cup runneth over with this show, the last for 2025 and the beginning of a new decade of marvellous creations for nicolette. congratulations nic, how blessed we are to bare witness… 🖤 #pbpwaystokeepwarm this beautiful piece is still available please contact the gallery for information on the few remaining works we have. gallery@paperboatpress.com

. KYOTO CREATIVE TOURS . new announcement : we’ve had a lot of interest for the may tours and have decided to add another tour into our schedule after the other may tours are sold out. NEW MAY 2026 tour date is now open from monday 11th - tuesday 14th The 4 day tour includes one welcome breakfast, four lunches, two dinners. all luxury transport, entries and workshops… two days in kyoto and two days exploring the country side and pottery town of shigaraki outside of kyoto. my sister @tiffany_l_johnson and i have not long returned from our october tour and it was another delightful inspiring time with equally delightful and inspiring people… whenever we do the tours we always get more interest. so please email tiffany@paperboatpress.com for all info and booking a spot… these tours are bespoke and we only have a maximum of 8 guests allowing. quiet and intimate travel experience. we do not sub around and try and fit too much in, though days are full and many sights and activities experiences are had…
