A job site field measure is often a very important and necessary step in the design process, especially when remodeling is involved. Over the last 24+ years, I have done hundreds of measures, and many of them I have done by myself, so I have it down pat. 😁

This particular measure required many details to be recorded, such as locating existing HVAC and electrical device locations. Not every measure is necessarily this detailed. I can record as much or as little information as necessary for the scope of each individual project. I bring my laptop, measuring tape, and laser distance measure and get to work! I measure to the 1/8", and I also take photos of the site for reference.

This is an example of a 3rd level attic measure that I recently performed. This is an older home in the Lake Harriet area, and I am in the process of measuring the entire home! A client (designer) that I am working with is going to be designing a new kitchen remodel on the main level, and her client (homeowner) wanted the whole home measured to record existing conditions for future remodel projects. I have measured the main, second, and third levels so far, and I am going back in a couple of weeks to measure the basement. 😬 I am thankful it's winter because I bet there won't be as many spiders as there would be in the summer. 🤣
