Snapshot of my experience of contributing to the design of the next Moonshot Prizes by @xprize🚀

Thrilled to have been one of the 80 leaders from across the UK to be invited by @xprize and @cambridge_consultants to contribute to the design of the next wave of global Moonshot prizes by @xprize🗺️ It was an incredible experience to learn from academic and industry leaders from across the world from the domains of Space, Deep Tech, Energy, Climate & Nature, Health and Food, Water & Waste🌍 I was a part of the Climate and Nature sub-group and we debated and co-created with each other, and contributed several important ideas and inputs on a range of topics, from extreme weather and the future of evolution, to biomimicry and shifting human-animal power dynamics (my personal favourite topic and I led the sub-team for this theme)🐘 As a researcher, educator and practitioner of Open Social Innovation, it was truly illuminating for me to learn how XPRIZE designs big, bold and ambitious prizes to find and fund cutting edge technological solutions to the world’s most pressing problems💡As a passionate nature advocate, it was refreshing to be in a room with people who had very different backgrounds but yet were very aligned in the pursuit of a future where humans learn from, contribute to, and truly respect Mother Nature🌳 It was also great to have a chance to bring my own unique perspective as a young Pracademic woman of colour representing the Social Sciences, adding a different lens to such discussions in a room full of STEM experts and leaders:) Interdisciplinary and multi-stakeholder collaboration is a critical ingredient for systemic change🤝

Thank you to XPrize and Cambridge Consultants for inviting me to be a part of this important dialogue🙌🏽 I left the event very energised and hopeful about the future of Social Innovation:) Looking forward to applying the event learnings to our venture support programmes and ecosystem building work at @lsegenerate 🚀

October 10th is World Mental Health Day and it feels fitting that a lot of my pracademic work in the past week has focused on mental wellbeing and resilience✨ Alongside hosting a virtual founder wellbeing circle on Monday and continuing to build a free entrepreneurial wellbeing platform and community (resilientfounders.org), it was a true pleasure to speak at the LSE Impact Wednesday Meetup (a monthly event series focused on research impact and academia-industry partnerships) on 7th Oct, where I was in conversation with Professor Elizabeth Stokoe, Associate Vice-President of Impact at the @londonschoolofeconomics💬 Joined by my brilliant industry collaborator, @rajmindhug, Founder of MindHug, we discussed the cross-country action research and impact work that we have undertaken in the realm of entrepreneurial wellbeing, as part of the Resilient Founders programme (co-delivered by @lsegenerate, @mymindhug and @atlasskilltechuniversity)💡 The core message: Founder Wellbeing is not a side issue, luxury or perk; it is a core and critical element of startup ecosystem infrastructure, and academia and industry must work closely together to co-create supportive and resilient entrepreneurial ecosystems across the world🤝

As I gear up for the new academic year at @londonschoolofeconomics (starting next week), I am also reflecting back to my teaching over the summer🌞 Every year, I teach a few lectures on the ‘Leadership in Organizations’ course offered by @lsemanagement, as part of the @lse_summer_school🎓 My lectures focus on the topic of ‘Building & Leading Innovative and Purpose-Driven Organizations’ & I teach concepts related to entrepreneurial & purpose-driven leadership to international students (a mix of undergrads, postgrads & industry professionals) from across the world🌍

As a Pracademic, I use case-based teaching & include several practical exercises as a part of this course, to bring the academic theory to life📚 A popular feature for the students every year is the Entrepreneurial Leadership panel that I host during one of my lectures, where I invite 3 entrepreneurs from the @lsegenerate community, who are leading successful startups & scale ups, & building venture teams 🚀 The founders speak candidly about their entrepreneurial leadership journeys & students get a chance ask them questions & learn from their invaluable insights as practising entrepreneurs in the field💬 I also ask each founder to share one leadership related challenge with the class & the students work in groups to brainstorm ideas & solutions for the founder challenges shared, working on live business cases, connecting academic concepts to practical venture needs in real time⏱️ The energy in the classroom is always very high for this lecture segment, with mutually beneficial insights co-created for both the students & the founders🤝

Hello 👋🏾 I’m starting this new account to take you along on my pracademic career journey, navigating learnings and experiences across academia and practice. Here, I’ll share snapshots, stories, notes and reflections from my work in action research, teaching, startup advisory and ecosystem building in social innovation and entrepreneurship, across different global contexts 🌍

I’m originally from India, have lived in Denmark and the US, and am now based in the UK, where I work at the London School of Economics and Political Science ✈️
Navigating a pracademic career has been exciting yet challenging, impactful yet demanding, rewarding yet chaotic🙂 I’m passionate about building meaningful bridges between academia and practice through my work, and I hope this page can be part of that too:)

Last week, we welcomed founders, investors, academics and ecosystem partners to the Entrepreneurial Wellbeing Summit as part of the Resilient Founders programme, delivered by LSE Generate, MindHug and ATLAS SkillTech University.

The evening brought together wellbeing experiences, honest conversations and interactive discussions to explore a simple question: how can we build a more supportive startup ecosystem where founders can thrive, not just survive?

From the art corner, silent disco, VR experience and sound bath to a panel discussion and roundtable conversations, every part of the evening was designed to encourage connection and shared learning. ✨

Also such a pleasure to return to Delhi - the last time I was Head of Sixth Form and had 42 teenagers in tow (@amybouchier ❤️) Lovely to enjoy a bit more downtime this time - and omg those cheeky monkeys!! Deffo another highlight 🐒🐒🐒

Can’t wait for next time but ngl, I can hear my bed calling me from here, and I can’t wait to scoop up my own teenage innovators / monkeys who I have missed 🛌 👧👧 🥹
