On September 12, the Cotton Bowl hosted something special. 🏈 The inaugural Roland Parrish Classic (@parrishclassic) brought four state championship programs to Fair Park: DeSoto vs. Duncanville and South Oak Cliff vs. North Shore.

The Parrish Charitable Foundation (@parrishcharitablefoundation) also hosted expos on college, careers and financial empowerment, health and wellness, STEM, and voter registration, connecting students and families with resources right in the stands.

It was a day North Texas won't forget. 💙

This past Saturday, PV Extension’s Community and Economic Development unit showed up at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas for the inaugural Parrish Classic, and we showed out. At the Career and Financial Empowerment Expo, CED North Texas, representing Tarrant, Dallas, and Kaufman counties, educated attendees about our business programs, provided housing and youth entrepreneurship resources, and registered people for our respective B.I.D. Academies. We proudly gave insight to all of the work PV Extension is doing throughout our communities and the state.

I had the privilege of meeting Senator Royce West and Mr. Roland Parrish, and I made sure they both knew exactly what PV Extension is building across North Texas and what our programs mean for the people we serve. And I will be honest: I proudly pointed out to anyone who would look all of the PVAMU flags around the Cotton Bowl Stadium. You just can’t help it when you see your university represented at that level!

To top it all off, my alma mater, DeSoto High School, won their game. That made the whole day even sweeter (sorry Edwin, lol)!

A big thank you to Mr. Roland Parrish and the Parrish Charitable Foundation, Rodney Baker, and Chase Martin for creating the space and making the inaugural Parrish Classic what it was. Thank you to the entire event team for giving organizations like ours the opportunity to connect with the community at this level.

And a huge thank you to my CED team: Dr. Henry, Dr. Peterson, Talia Washington, Edwin Crittendon, and Alexis Horne. Thank you to IIC and CAFNR Marketing and Communications for putting together our CED video that was shown on the jumbotrons at the Cotton Bowl Stadium. Seeing our work on those screens was something else entirely!

Excited for everything to come!

LIKE FATHER & LIKE SON - SOME MOMENTS ARE BIGGER THAN SPORTS!!!🔥🔥🔥

The Parrish Family’s legacy Mr. Roland Parrish and Ro Parrish was amazing to see and experience! These great men of excellence, service, education, and opportunity blessed The League’s commentating table with sharing their heart on the game, the community and why making a lasting impact on generations to come is a mission they live in action!

It was an honor for The League to be part of the inaugural Parrish Classic @parrishclassic @parrishcharitablefoundation @roparrish bringing families, athletes, schools, and community together around a vision that is bigger than the game.

This is legacy. This was community. This is impact.

The League is ALL IN. 🏆
