Ever since I watched #meinvaapasaaunga I have been addicted to this song. ARR has made a tune which overflows with affection, and in Vedang Raina's voice the song becomes even more endearing. When you are in love with someone, everything about them, even if they are selfish and vain, you start adoring..this song is just unadulterated, unconditional love that stings you once or twice in a lifetime. And the song is a tribute to everyone who has fallen and failed in love, in a good way...

Somewhere in Mysore on the New Year's day this year, I saw the depth of a river, and was reminded of kindness. To flow like a river, making way for others and oneself, with generosity and love...and this Keerthanam about Maithri just sprang out of my heart.

Kedaragowla sings through me once again after 10 years. And this time notes hit differently through my 36 years of lived imagination.

One Basheer who has been there for every single one.

For nearly two decades, Paul Mathew has been the thread that holds "Under the Mangosteen Tree" together - Basheer as narrator, witness, participant, and sometimes simply the quiet presence watching these extraordinary lives unfold.

Paul is, in every sense, a legend of theatre. And he brings to Basheer something that is impossible to replace: discipline, rigour, generosity and an immense joy in the act of performing.

There could perhaps be no one else in this role.

And after all these years, watching Paul step into Basheer with the same curiosity, precision and mischief feels both completely familiar and incredibly precious.

As this journey comes to an end, we are reminded that theatre is not only about the stories we tell. It is about the people who carry them, year after year, show after show, until the character becomes part of their lives.

Thank you, Paul, for carrying Basheer with us for 18 years. ❤️
