Summer, chapter 1 🫶

March was about learning and connection!

It was the busiest month in a long time both personally and professionally but now I’m breathing a sigh of relief 😮‍💨💖

My coolest takeaways from March?

1. Leaders are futurists. Futurists are actually optimistic about the future. Humans are insanely adaptable. We can’t be ignorant, but we have to believe its worth it to build a better world for our children.

2. Our need to be part of in person community will probably never change (very encouraging realization as a church planter!)

3. Even though we’re leaving Austin, I’ve been SO encouraged by the amount of support from people that want to stay connected here. I had a fear people would stop wanting to hang out with me. In 2026, I don’t think moving far away is the end of relationships the way it used to be.

4. Prayer really changes things. Looking back, we’ve seen so many prayers answered that we’ve prayed for in my Bible study. It’s really cool.

5. No one really knows what’s going to happen next or what the market actually wants. All you can do is place long term bets on the things you really care about.

(IE: the panel I went to here with @steven was all about agentic commerce, and I read today on @jimcarterthethird newsletter that OpenAI just cancelled their instant checkout feature — Walmart said the checkout in ChatGPT converted 3x WORSE than their website 😅)

6. When you tell your team your actual goals and delegate real responsibility over tasks, they crush it. I can’t believe how much less agency work is on my personal plate vs projects in progress.💖

7. Stay curious! Your creative edge comes from THIS vs being obsessed with efficiency.

There’s a kind of busy that feels buzzy.

You’re in flow, things are clicking, and it’s full, but fulfilling.

And then… there’s the other kind.

The kind where your to-do list multiplies overnight.

Your energy’s flat.

And you can’t quite remember when you last sat down without checking your inbox.

Your version of “busy” gets to be personal.

But it also deserves intentionality.

Join Shay Brown and I as we unpack the difference on this week's podcast!

Ever thought that being your own boss = more space...

But found yourself saying “yes” to everything, working way past dinner, and wondering when freedom was actually supposed to start?

Freedom isn’t found in flexibility.

A freedom-based business is by design.

In this week's podcast, Shay Brown from @bucketlistbombshells and I unpack:

💜 The 3 business models you need to understand before your next launch
💜 The truth about scaling with a small team and big boundaries
💜 Her method for working ~25 hours/week (yep, really)

If your calendar feels like it’s running the show lately, this one’s your permission slip to hit reset.

Shay thought she was working nonstop.

But when she tracked her time? 👀

Turns out she was actually working ~25 hours a week... just with really long breaks built in.

Coffee dates.
Long walks.
Slow lunches.

All lovely, but they were stretching her day and making it feel endless.

The takeaway is sometimes we’re not as overworked as we think.

We’re just scattered.

And when we tighten our focus, we get our time (and sanity) back 🙌🏻

Clients get nervous about subscriptions/retainers…until you show them the value. 👏

This week on the pod, Shay of @bucketlistbombshells talks about ways to scale your business through the correct positioning, recurring revenue, and why memberships/retainers are one of the best ways to scale your business while keeping deep relationships with your clients.
