@paskettiwestern had a cool post about ‘87-‘88 Marvel being his jam & it reminded me of the Fall of the Mutants promo art that I was IMMEDIATELY taken with when I saw the postcard on the comic shop counter. 11-12 year old, SpinnerRackRick, didn’t have a chance against this Alan Davis/Paul Neary image. Absolutely stunning. #alandavis #paulneary #mutants #marvel #comics

East Coast Comic Expo 2026 was amazing. I met a lot of very nice and talented people. A lot of artists, writers and even a rapper who id highly recommend everyone check out all of their work. I met Gisèle Legace, Andrew Clark, Emilia Strilchuk, Pia Guerra, Marcus To, Ian Boothby, Troy Little, Wordburglar, Dave Howlett, and Ed Brisson. It was so fun at the convention getting to meet everyone.

Another @eastcoastcomicexpo in the books. It's no secret that I love this convention and look forward to it every year. This year was particularly special. I'd like to thank all my friends and the community for always bringing the immaculate vibes, and of course to the volunteers and organizers for such an incredible show with a great guest list. Thank you @eastcoastcomicexpo

Red Robin was a special book to me growing up. It was very formative for me. I immediately fell in love with @marcusanthonyto art and to then see him move on to Nightwing, I lost my damn mind. Everyone has that formative book from their youth, the one that means everything to them. This was it for me. I always promised myself I would meet Marcus To and get these books signed, and try my best to articulate just how much it means to me. I tried. What I'll say is that it's always amazing to meet an excellent artist, but it's even better when they're such an amazing person. Thank you, a memory I will always cherish.

I was really looking forward to meeting @thewarblazer and it exceeded my expectations. One thing I love about smaller shows is that you can have more initimate conversations with the creators, and chatting with @thewarblazer was one of the highlights of the show. Not only is he a great and talented artist, but he's also a great person who was very kind and patient with his time and fans. I found that the conversations we shared really stuck with me, and I'm grateful! I sincerely look forward to following you on your creative journey!

One of my favorite parts of conventions is discovering artists that are new to me, and I was able to win a beautiful @_brad.the.bard_ art piece from the art battle. Truth be told I had no idea they gave away the art at the end of those panels, so that was quite a surprise. I love it, and I look forward to discovering more of Brad's work and following him on his creative journey!

I've always wanted a piece from @paskettiwestern but, truth be told, I've always been shy to ask because I consider him a good friend. Needless to say, he blew my mind.

As always, @eastcoastcomicexpo was a blast. Apologies to everyone who had to deal with me sticking my camera in their face while screaming "DON'T LOOK AT ME! DON'T LOOK AT ME!"

The DCAF Kick-Off 2025: Rhymes, Comics, and East Coast Cameos 🎤📚✨

Last night at New Scotland Brewing Co., the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival blasted off in style with a high-energy kickoff show headlined by Wordburglar — the slang-wrangling, rhyme-boggling master of nerdy hip-hop storytelling.

The night wasn’t just about music. It was also a launch party for Wordburglar Rhymes With Comics #1 — a massive 100-page, full-colour graphic novel that transforms 15 of Wordburglar’s most popular songs into illustrated adventures. The book even comes with a soundtrack so you can rhyme along while you read.

The project boasts an all-star creative lineup from across the comics industry — Marvel, DC, Scholastic, Image, IDW, BOOM!, and more. The cover was created by none other than Steve McNiven, with interior art from 15 incredible artists, including a collaboration with Dave Howlett.

Both McNiven and Howlett were on site for the kickoff, along with Calum Johnston of Strange Adventures, founder of DCAF and a key figure in Wordburglar’s early days. Back before the albums and comic launches, a young Sean Jordan (aka Wordburglar) was working in Cal’s comic shops alongside Howlett — planting the seeds for the music-and-comics fusion we saw celebrated last night.

The night also brought plenty of laughs from comedian Kyle Barnet, keeping the energy high and setting the perfect tone for the DCAF weekend ahead.

You can catch Wordburglar hanging around DCAF this weekend — and if you manage to grab a copy of Wordburglar Rhymes With Comics #1, you might just get it signed by the man himself.

📅 DCAF takes over the Dartmouth Waterfront August 9–10.
📍 Saturday: Panels & workshops at Alderney Gate Library
📍 Sunday: Comics Market at Alderney Landing Market
