Old Man Conditioning 101:🦾I call this the CHAOS DRILL

This drill is no joke—definitely one of the toughest challenges I’ve tackled! It demands serious effort and laser-like focus. With no coach in sight, I had to record my own voice giving commands and play it back—talk about multitasking! 🎤

I started with 4 sets of 20 commands and gradually pushed myself to 30, 40, and then 50. The variety in this drill keeps things fresh and forces me to dig deep. It’s a constant reminder that concentration and effort can lead to growth, no matter where you are in your journey. Keep pushing and stay on course! 👊

50

As I approach the milestone of 50, I reflect on a promise I made to myself: to embrace movement, training, and an unwavering enthusiasm for life. This commitment isn’t just for me; it’s a responsibility I hold toward my family and the TEAM we’re building together. By nurturing my well-being, I strive to bring my best self to every aspect of life. Prioritizing the practices that enhance our quality of life is not just a choice—it’s a guiding principle. Here’s to the journey ahead, filled with purpose and passion! 🦾

500m Skierg Test =1:25.9

So many lessons in such a short time. Here are 3 of the most powerful.
—————————
1. What do you want?
2. How badly do you want it?
3. How much are you willing to suffer?

Do you want something, and are you willing to do what it takes to get it? If it’s not both, it doesn’t matter.

The deadlift is not a huge part of my training, however, it is an important part of my program. It’s a key exercise that gives me direct carryover into my rowing and skierg sessions. I break my approach into three parts.
————————
1️⃣Bar Engagement-this is my opportunity to place my hands and eat in a proper position. Nothing strenuous at this time I’m only ensuring that I feel comfortable with my hands with feet.
2️⃣Back & Spine position- I retract my shoulders and slightly drop my forehead. I quickly do a joint by joint check of ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders. Note: there is still no strain in this position.
3️⃣ Bracing & 3 second fight-If you pay close attention to my fave you’ll see me take a big breath and hold it. This is called the Valsalva maneuver. It increases the pressure in the chest cavity by exhaling forcefully against a closed airway. This component that helps me deal with the load. Lastly, I start straining before I lift the bar. We call the “3 second fight.” This helps me build tension and increase strain in a smooth manner.
———————-
This is far from a perfect lif test. However, these steps help protect me from being compromised and put me in an optimal position.
