The magic is in the gathering.

For Brenda Schweder, inspiration starts long before a piece is ever finished. Her studio is filled with a carefully curated collection of mostly vintage and antique finds—objects with history, character, and just the right amount of patina.

Her process begins by pulling pieces together and creating little vignettes, playing with shape, texture, scale, and story. And then, somewhere in the arranging and rearranging, a THIS-IS-IT moment happens.

In the final video of our three-part series, step inside Brenda’s studio and see where the magic begins. 🤎

What happens when jewelry becomes more than something you wear? ✨

In Part Two of our series with Brenda Schweder, we’re taking a closer look at the evolution of her found-object jewelry—and how some of her favorite pieces were transformed to live two lives: as wearable art and as sculpture.

Because why should a beautiful object have just one purpose? Brenda’s work blurs the line between jewelry, art, and collected objects, creating pieces that are just as captivating sitting on display as they are worn.

Stay tuned for Part Three, where we go even further behind the scenes of Brenda’s creative world.

Have you heard about my feature in @wherewomencreate magazine yet?

The inimitable @lorisiebert.studio — guest editor of its “An Artist Lives Here” feature—spied a Reel of my fireplace redo on my @thisoldadobehouse and messaged me a short, but very poignant question:

“Would you like to be featured in Where Women Create?”

and I bounced back:

“Are you KIDDING ME!?”

to which she replied:

“Nope!”

And here we are, in the current Fall Issue thanks to @passionhousemedia for their magnificent photo and video work [not these, these are my own…theirs are shot with professional equipment and edited and color-corrected and all that cool stuff].

Anyway, my home IS my gallery with my own work salted-in with thrift shop finds, Facebook Marketplace scores, and carefully curated antique store bits-and-bobs.

It’s built over time, layered and textured like our lives, as the complex and ever-changing women of this evolving and constantly-expanding universe.

No all-beige-and-greige homes for us! If it ain’t from ALL the past decades, is it even ours?

Our private opening for Gino Miles’ Summer Exhibition is Thursday, August 20th, 4:30-6:30pm at InterFusion Art. RSVP by Monday, August 17th to info@interfusionart.com or 505-467-8081.

A huge thank you to @PassionHouseMedia for putting together the documentary we’ll be showing at the opening. Here are a few moments we loved from the preview, an intimate look inside Gino’s studio as he works through scale, balance, and gravity to bring one of his largest sculptures to life.
