You were BUILT with the biological mechanisms to heal and thrive!!

We know that traumatic stress is held in our bodies and that its biological impact can be carried across generations.

Traumatic stress can shape our nervous systems, our patterns of connection, our capacity for trust, and even our ability to imagine a future different from the present.

The good news is that our brains and bodies are DESIGNED to move from survival toward resilience and flourishing. We simply need the skills to better activate those biological mechanisms more effectively.

What if our faith communities became places that not only speak about healing, but actually help 👉create the conditions for it?👈

After decades of teaching, training, researching, and co-creating communities that organically heal, four pillars have emerged as essential:

🤎 Liberative Theology
Understanding Scripture through the lens of its social and political context.

🧠 Interpersonal Neurobiology
Understanding how connection and belonging shape the brain and create the conditions for healing and flourishing.

🌱 Generational Trauma
Exploring how trauma is carried in the body and how healing can interrupt cycles of harm.

❤️ Beloved Community
Cultivating communities where healing, belonging, dignity, and collective flourishing can thrive.

These four pillars form the foundation of our inaugural Howard University School of Divinity certificate program:

Healing Racial Trauma: Integrating Theology and Neuroscience to Create Faith Communities that Heal

We begin in less than three weeks. Limited space!

We can follow Joshua's example and let God exalt us in the eyes of the people. His elevation comes with miracles, authority, divine strategy and victory-- without people becoming collateral damage on the way up.

One of my favorite places in the world is the Almafi Coast.

Had the chance to experience its beauty with my forever travel date Eric Brewer!

Travel also brings great networking and we made news friends from New London, CT—Dan & Suzanne Karp—amazing entrepreneurs. I am so blessed that Suzanne has even agreed to lend her leadership expertise in service to the Esther Institute!

Of course, we cannot travel anywhere in the world without meeting a Soror of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc or my husband’s brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. On the ferry, we met Teon & Karmesha Molton from Indianapolis! Another Fire & Ice Couple!

We love expanding our territory and increasing our purpose network while traveling.

✨ Love Will Brew Across Europe 🇮🇪🇬🇧🇪🇸🇫🇷🇲🇨🇮🇹
Love is still brewing throughout Europe!
Six countries. Nine cities. Countless memories.
This journey has been so much more than travel. One year after my breast cancer diagnosis, it’s been a season of healing, renewal, and intentional time with my favorite travel partner.
As we speak, explore, and dream together, we’re nurturing our purpose partnership and reflecting on what’s next for our businesses, ministry, and the lives we’re called to impact.
Sometimes the best ideas are brewed while seeing the world together. ❤️🌍
Next stop: Sicily

What a day at the @howard1867 University Divinity School “Compelling Preaching Symposium” !🙌🏾

My favorite preacher, Dr. Marcus Cosby, brought the Word (🔥). I was poured into by Dr. Judy Fentress-Williams and Dr. Kenyatta Gilbert @thepreachingproject in their masterclasses—pure brilliance. And Damien Sneed’s music ministry? Absolutely soul-stirring—he turned the room into worship and reflection.

The BEST part was catching up with my brother, classmate, and confidante, Dr. Eric Brewer, Director of Field Education.

Grateful for wisdom, worship, and connections fueling our work with @necuelca ’s embedded seminaries. My cup is full. ✨

I'm not a musician, but I love music! I love to hear my husband play and I get excited listening to the growth of my drummer son. We had fun times at the Anderson Funeral Service "Make That Hammond Talk" musician shed event last Friday.
