Last week Greg and I climbed Mount Williamson and Mount Tyndall marking my completion of all of 74 14,000 foot peaks in the American lower 48. It’s a goal I’ve been slowly working to since I first climbed Grays Peak with my dad on a college visit to Colorado in 2011. After completing the Colorado 14ers in 2017, I slowly began to climb the California 14ers and Rainier in “good style” typically by a harder non-standard route, on skis, in winter, as an extended backpacking trip, or in some other unique and challenging fashion. For the most part I accomplished that goal. In the process I’ve experienced breathtaking alpine views, witnessed sublime sunrises, and made incredible memories with friends new and old. Here are some of my favorite memories from the last 14 or so years. In roughly chronological order:
1/2) Grunting up the Fishhook Arete with Colin. 3) Tyndall base camp with #offthegridgreg. It hailed on us an hour after the summit. 4) 13,000 foot camp on the White Mountain Traverse. You can see White Mountain peak off in the distance. 5) High winds on Mount Shasta summit turning into incredible corn skiing on the way down. 6) Emmons Glacier camp on Rainier. I took a front flip on the ski down from camp in heavy snow #offthegridGreg. 7) Carrying ridiculously heavy AT ski and rock climbing gear up Mount Whitney. 8/9) Climbing in the Palisades with my Jessica. 10) Getting scared on the El Diente-Wilson traverse. 11) Getting scared and dropping my backpack of North Maroon peak after forgetting to bring snow traction 😆. 12) Max and I climbing Uncompahgre peak in Winter. A year later Pat Church and I would ski it. 13) Snowmass in a whiteout. I’m pretty sure Joe didn’t bring gloves. 14) Hot boy summer on Longs Peak. 15) Skiing multiple 14ers on resort skiing gear. This is Ortiz on Mount Missouri. 16) Beau monkeying around on Little Bear. 17) Tripping and breaking my patella on a winter attempt of Torreys. 18) Malnourished on Whitney after hiking the John Muir trail at 18 years old. 19) My first 14er with my dad in Summer 2011!
What a beautiful ride.

The annual walk from Crested Butte to Aspen. Couldn’t have done it without my partner @patchurch25 and his high spirits! I’ll never forget the surreal experience watching the pastel sunrise greet the full moon over Star Pass. @thegrandtraverse #neveragain #maybenextyear
