Amma, RAYE’s younger sister, opened the concert performing songs from her debut album “Middle Child” — and completely won over the crowd.
If you haven’t heard her yet, now’s the time.

NYC for a night.
5pm arrival. 2am departure. In between: Grabbed a pretzel from a street vendor. Haven’t had one in years. Didn’t quite taste the same. Then the main event, RAYE’s sold out concert at Radio City Music Hall - spectacular! Drive through Times Square to Greenwich Village. Late night pasta dinner at Cafe Reggio.
Even a few hours in NY is fun.

Coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula - Exploring the Italian coast of the Sorrento Peninsula was like stepping into someone else’s Instagram feed. Picture perfect, almost unreal. A rugged coastline with dramatic cliffs, winding roads and towns built into the mountainsides. Harbors filled with boats. The Tyrrhenian Sea shifting from cobalt blue to crystalline turquoise, so transparent you could see the pale rock beneath the surface.
Have you experienced the Sorrento Peninsula? What did you think?

Our first pasta meal in Italy - We arrived in Italy on my mother’s birthday, so dinner was on me. We had checked into the hotel and now it was time to check out of our diets. Our B&B host gave us a few restaurant suggestions, including one I had already considered, but I was drawn to the one named Mamma Che Pasta, @mammachepastasorrento. It had the magic word right in the name. While eating salads for weeks before the trip, dreaming of eating my weight in pasta in Italy had kept me motivated. I made sure my mom was on board - a fellow pasta lover, she was.

There was a line outside the restaurant, a good sign. While we waited, we watched the staff make handmade pasta through the front window. Once we were seated, we started out with bruschetta and fresh lemonade. While there were pasta specials, the real fun was in creating your own dish - choose your pasta, sauce and topping. For me, spinach ravioli, lemon sauce and truffle burrata. Lemon sauce was an unusual choice for me, but Sorrento is the land of lemons. Besides, I’d be eating a lot of pasta, so all my hopes weren’t tied to this meal.

The birthday girl opted for something more classic, penne, tomato sauce and buffalo mozzarella. Expecting melted cheese, my mother was surprised to see a ball of fresh cheese on our plates. I ate all of mine and part of her’s.

Worried about tomato sauce stains, I’d packed scarves for fashionable protection. No need. They had giant bibs. The lemon tiramisu was sold out, so we shared lemon sorbetto served in a lemon.

The atmosphere was enhanced by covers of populars songs in coffee lounge style. When we heard an Earth, Wind & Fire (my dad’s favorite band) song, we knew he was with us in spirit.

Are you a pasta lover? Save this reel for your next trip to Sorrento!

It's hard to believe it has been one year since I released my first album, Out the Box. Thank you to all who worked on the project and all who came out to celebrate its release.

Hotel Mademoiselle - Boutique hotel in Paris, France - We returned to Hotel Mademoiselle for our second trip to Paris last fall. This time the buffet breakfast was included. It wasn’t your usual hotel breakfast. It included fresh squeezed juices and freshly baked pastries. European hotels sometimes include cucumbers, tomatoes, cheeses and meats on their buffets. This was worth getting up for.
This is the hotel we stayed at during our trip to Paris in 2023 also. It is a 4 star boutique hotel in 10th arrondissement near Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est. The haute couture decor went with our fashion-themed trip and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Afternoon Tea at The Ritz London - We couldn’t go to London without experiencing a traditional afternoon tea. Since we only had time to go to one afternoon tea during our stay, we decided to go big before we went home by going to The Ritz. While The Ritz may not be budget friendly, you won’t leave hungry. You’ll get sandwiches (with replenishments), scones and pastries. Finally, you’re offered your choice of a slice of cake table side from the cake trolley. Most importantly, The Ritz London is the only hotel in the UK that has a certified tea master, who travels to tea plantations around the world to source 20 different types of loose leaf tea. This is all experienced in the elegant surroundings of The Palm Court, complemented by music from the resident pianist.

If we hadn’t had tickets to the theater, we would have stayed longer. We didn’t finish our scones, which were packed with an additional 2. Unfortunately, clotted cream doesn’t travel, but we did get raspberry and blackcurrant jam to go, which was delicious.

You need to make a reservation in advance, because they get booked up fast. Luckily, they had a cancelation and we were able to get a 5:30 sitting before we went to the theater.

Menu
Sandwiches:
Ham with Grain Mustard Mayonnaise on Brioche Bread
Cheddar Cheese with Chutney on Tomato Bread
Cucumber with Cream Cheese, Dill and Mint on Granary Bread
Breast of Chicken with Tarragon Creamed Mayonnaise on Malt Bread
Scottish Smoked Salmon with Lemon Butter on Sourdough Bread
Egg Mayonnaise with Chopped Shallots and Watercress on Brioche Roll
Scones and Pastries:
Freshly Baked Plain and Fruit Scones
Cornish Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve
Assortment of Seasonal Afternoon Tea Pastries and Cakes

La Galerie Dior (Christian Dior Museum) - Whether you’ve come to Paris because you are a fashion lover or are interested in a quintessential part of Paris history, you must visit La Galerie Dior. We arrived in Paris on Mother’s Day in France and exploring La Galerie was the perfect way for us to celebrate. This museum shows off Christian Dior as a true artist. You’ll learn the history of the House of Dior and what inspired Dior’s designs. The entrance and exit is at the spiral staircase surrounded by a diorama of over 1,800 Dior pieces recreated in 3D printed miniatures arranged in a rainbow of colors. Spanning 3 floors, this beautifully curated museum offers room after room of WOW, chronicling the unique vision of Dior and his successors at this famous address and the spirit of Parisian Haute Couture.
If you plan on going to La Galerie Dior, it’s best to get tickets in advance at www.galeriedior.com to avoid waiting in line.
